This is a poem to be published. I like the theme of not letting nature pass us by. Such tiny gems reveal themselves each day is a marvelous line that tells the reader how much treasure is out in nature.

Such tiny gems reveal themselves each day,
but only to those souls who slow their pace.
For those inclined to hurry on their way,
the beauty of our world is put to waste.

May He who made the violets and dew,
awake my eyes to all I'm passing through.

I agree wholeheartedly -- a beautifully written poem, with
perfect rhythm and rhyme -- and sending out a clear message --

We need to stop and smell the roses!!
But then, I always do.

A wonderful thing happened yesterday - I was sitting in the conservatory having a cuppa (the door was wide open to the garden) - in hops our blackbird and perches on the arm of the chair next to mine - I had quite a conversation with him and he even answered in his own chirpy way - what he said mind is a mystery - but how lovely is that, Brooke!!

Brilliant! A sonnet of perfection.
But then what else do we expect.
That's not a criticism but a compliment.
Your accompanying pictures keep us
all in touch with reality, the poetry
sends us all into dream land. Eric

These are the gems of nature - the see, the violet, the butterfly and rainbow. Yes, we need to slow our pace to find them and to enjoy them. Wonderful sonnet for the contest!

Oh, Brooke. You have totally captured what I have so often thought. People really do not see what is going on around them - the details. All the minuscule bits of beauty. I just adore the examples you've used. I think the rainbow in a shard of glass is my favourite, for it implies (to me, at least) that beauty can even be found in our carelessness. In my mind, I saw a piece of broken glass in the gutter, catching the sun's rays.

Superb, Brooke. If this doesn't make the podium, I shall eat my laptop.

Not really. But this just has to be recognized.

Thank you. In truth, I've had a bit of a thumbs-down morning. This just lifted me right up.

This is a thoughtful message, Brooke, about slowing down and enjoying the wonders in our world. I especially like the third line:
a rainbow in a shard of broken glass

As all your poems are, it is perfectly written with beautiful rhyme, rhythm and alliteration. Good luck in the contest. Alana

This is a pleasant sonnet that helps remind the reader that beauty is the whole of a million fragments of admired memories. (Holy cow! I ought to write that down.)

This poem holds a very true and eternal message that the world is full of wonderment. The miracles of nature can be seen every day if we choose to slow down and really look. Well done, Brooke.

Hello Brooke,
Thought provoking laudable piece of poetry in the form of Shakespearean Sonnet!
It meets the desired norms and beautifully displays what is not to be overlooked.
Simple as well as impressive wording.
Smooth flow with lovely rhyming scheme and lively imagery.
"Such tiny gems reveal themselves each day,
but only to those souls who slow their pace.
For those inclined to hurry on their way,
the beauty of our world is put to waste."
Best of Luck!
