Beautiful, Brooke! I love the part about the ocean. So artfully worded. Love the picture and the whole presentation. Love the last two lines. Great! Thank you for sharing!!

Is faith the breath that draws in air
before it takes its measure,
or is it when I give my heart,
the greatest of all treasure?
This is a wonderful poem for the Quatrain contest, Brooke. I love the message in it, and, of course, the form is perfect.

It is very poetic and nice brooke. I liked the tone and the style of it. I was a bit off with the punctuation, the ?, and the ! .

Thank you, K, for your feedback. The question marks are to show that I'm asking questions. I don't even see any exclamation points in my poem. Brooke

Our poet broaches the uncanny subject with fine imagery. The opening lines encompass both dread and hopeful anticipation as we cast away all restraints of the mind and of the past and challenge the unknown because for real understanding there can be no course. They say that faith is the evidence of things not seen. How can we approach it without trepidation. Most of our lives are bound by our sensitivity, our dependence and our fear. Our poet of course says it all with greater simplicity. The title is quite intriguing too.

Interesting muse in good ballad form. Excellent rhymes. Head, or heart, from which does faith start? --and does it need the pairing? Good luck Brooke. Kenny

I like how you have described faith in the first quatrain, comparing it to the waves coming and going. Then you use the simple act of breathing, and it's true, we must have faith to drink a liquid that we are told is good, but only have their word for it. An en excellent poem for the contest, Brooke, Good luck! :) Sandra

Two quatrains that say so much; loved the theme. I think faith lives in every living thing - the wave that has no destination and yet it reaches a distant shore. The bird that opens its wings at dawn's early light, ready to take flight - no hesitation. Humans hesitate because of fear of the unknown - animals have no fear. Nicely done nana.

Very interesting. I wish I knew exactly what faith is myself. I think it is a force that can be used for good and bad. It is the bridge that connects two points when reason fails.

This perception of faith being a wave proceeding without hesitation to a destination without a plotted course is so descriptive and I think some would call it blind faith. I relate to faith as giving one's heart as in your second stanza.
