Yes, faith is all that you have carefully questioned about. Faith is going for the plunge like a blind man but believing without an iota of doubt with hope that all will be alright at the end. I love the muse.

This is truly lovely. I continue to find it amazing that you always make this seem so easy. this has excellent rhyme and I especially like:
is it when I give my heart,
the greatest of all treasure?
Wonderful entry for this contest and I wish you all the best.

Hi Brooke, I like this short but sweet little set of quatrains with excellent use of iambic meter and a clever use of metaphor to describe a leap of faith.
I did find the first 2 lines of the first stanza a bit awkward grammatically though. What do you think of the following suggestion:
Is faith the wave that leaves the shore
for distant destination(s),
Although this does make more sense to me when I read it, you do lose the pureness of the destination/hesitation rhyme pair. It's just a thought. Best of luck in the contest.

Gail, I debated the destination/destinations choice - I still am not sure which one I will go with in the end. Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and kind contest wishes :-) Brooke

You're welcome. I guess you could claim poetic license. It's a fair call.

This could just as well have gone into the Faith
competition, Brooke. You break the concept down
to its essence. We are all people of faith.
We surrender to it with every breath--as you deftly
point out.
But surrendering our precious hearts
to faith in our peers might be the most hard won
faith of all.
You caught me waxing philosophical. Shhhhhh. I'll be waning philosophical soon enough.
Peace, Lee

And there you go making me laugh again, Lee :-) I had already entered a poem in the faith contest or I would have used it for that :-) Thank you so much, my friend :-) Brooke

Yes, I remember your Faith poem.
An embarrassment of richs. An admirable thing.
I have an embarrassment of rices. They all end with A-Roni. Maybe they taste better in San Francisco. You think?
-
Oh, I have a class to teach in a few minutes and now you've put me in a silly mood. I need to get serious, my friend. People pay me to be serious! LOL
-
I promise not to make funny faces from the back of the class. Okay, maybe a moon.

Excellent. Perfectly smooth and free flowing. The rhymes are excellent, too. I like how you question what faith is and then say wha it means to you. Great job!

Hello Brooke,
Nice piece of poetry about 'Faith ?'
Impressive wording.
Smooth flow with, as usual, lovely rhyming scheme and lively imagery.
"....or is it when I give my heart,
the greatest of all treasure?"
Best of Luck!
