This is adorable, Brooke. A bit of poetic whimsy indeed. A well crafted tale with a very familiar theme. If we had a dime for every time our plans were interrupted...although sometimes those interruptions are the best thing ever!

Great rhymes and the alternating lines of 8 and 6 syllables give it a wonderful childlike rhythm. Enjoyed it!

Best,
Lena

Brilliant! Love the way you told this story about a day off disrupted by the sashaying 'pretty little miss'. LOL!

I adore the image of him with his slippers and his books.

The photo is priceless. Sawyer's expression is perfect for the poem.

Thanks for the smile, Brooke.

A cute little poem about life's unexpected moments, that are not necessarily unpleasant.
Man's well laid plans are often interrupted by those who care nothing for your plans, as they have a plan of their own.
Love the picture of Sawyer and Chloe, it expresses perfectly the young man's horror at being interrupted, and the delight of the little miss at being the source of such interruption.
Great job!

Hello adewpearl, Brooke, Such a splendid poem. I don't know who I envy more, Horatio or the pretty little miss. Of special note:

When at the door he heard a knock,
an unexpected guest,
whose mission really had no room
for reading or for rest.

(And you wonder why I'm envious ... So, let the knocking begin 'cause I'll just say, "come on in." LOL.)

A fun poem that made me smile at the end of a long day and wacky week. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Yep, another "adewpearler" Great flow!
You are the queen of ABCB rhyme

Don't really think a comma is required in the second verse between 'they' and 'my' I think the comma after friend is adequate and still maintains the appropriate pause

for often we will find ourselves
in other people's hands,
and they my friend, might just have made
a different set of plans.

I think that flows better

just my thought

The bard immediately came to mind -- 'There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.'

The look on his face says it all - the photos you use are almost as good as your poems. You've captured his essence in so very many of them.

Whimsy yes, enchanting definitely.

Hehe, I adore your closing quatrain which summarises beautifully and could almost be a standalone poem. The picture is cute as a button and you've written a great piece to accompany it.

This is so cute, Brooke, and I loved the picture! Are they going to get married when they grow up? (lol). They are such a nice couple.

Great rhymes, flow and whimsy here. Excellent imagery and creativity.

She sashayed toward Horatio,
this pretty little miss,
and found a spot upon his cheek
to plant a little kiss.

These children are so much fun! Thank you for the read.

Thank you, Yelena. I've teased Miranda about that. It would make for the best slide show ever at the wedding reception if they had photos dating back to before the bride and groom were 2 :-) Brooke
