You set the stage well
beautiful and haunting detail of setting
the wolf pack as a cohesive killing unit - your descriptions of the pack and of his anticipation of their arrival kept me on the edge of my seat
love the reveal in the closing where the hunter becomes a werewolf, more than capable of fighting off and aggressing against the pack

Very descriptive story. You put this reader on the edge of my seat. The artwork added to the excitement of the story. Excellent read, best of luck in the contest.

Well, I thought it was ok. The writing it's self was good. The story line good. For me...I think it could have been...I don't know. Its like missing something. I do the same thing in my writing. Sorry.

This is a very descriptive story. I liked the description of the evergreen forest covered with snow. I liked the way you lead the reader through the transformation into a werewolf.

This is a terrific story. It builds nicely from the narrator's condition through his hunt and probable conquest of the wolf pack. You use elevated vocabulary judiciously, enough to further define the character, without losing the general reader. I like so much I feel that two things ought to be presented as possible revision items.
The second paragraph, after the castle inset, has the preposition 'along'
In three phrases. It just stands out and makes me think about it.
"I carefully slip around them, then make my way into a dense bank of blue spruce along the frozen embankment along the river. The forlorn cry of an howl echoes along the tree-cloaked hillside, wafting away somewhere in the distance. Soon after, the hungry howls of the wolf-pack are returned as a reply."
Love the story.

Thank you, Bill, I really appreciate that. I somehow overlooked that, probably a later addition and edit. I agree, it does appear a bit "clunky". I will fix that right away!

Done, and done! I've edited it.

    Thanks again, Bill.
Thanks so much again for your insights and excellent feedback.

This tale of hunting is haunting. Your rich, descriptive language took me to another place and filled my senses with all that was there. I wanted to read it quickly, but did not want to rush the experience. And I read it over again, twice. The pictures you chose enhanced the mood as well. Bravo!

Thanks so much, Donna, for validating that the story did for you exactly as I'd intended; it put you right in the action, in the mix with the lone hunter and the wolves.

I truly appreciate that, and the most generous six star rating.

Unlike the quick transformation of the main character, the plot slowly builds up until the climactic moment.

The author expertly sets up the background to create gloom and bleakness of the scenery. The setting of the bloody encounter is laid out almost foretelling the outcome.

However, the reversal of roles also reversed it.

misspellings of "techniques" and "instincts"

Well I better go vote now if I can yet. I don't even need to read anything else, and I'm glad I did not know this was the contest, because the way you wrote it, I did not know until the end that he was not a mere mortal human. Very well written. You created such imagery, you put me in the story to watch from a well hidden spot. I could almost smell the scents you described, I saw the wolves in my mind's eye, I felt the man's fear/excitement every step of the way. Then, BOOM! He is a wolf! BRAVO! I loved this! You captured me in the very first line, built the anticipation/fear, and punched me in the face with surprise at the end. That's what its all about with storytelling!

Thanks, LilHippie, what a wonderful compliment! I'm really glad the writing put you there in the story, for that is what I intended to do. Thanks for validating that at least for you, it worked.

    Much obliged, my friend!
