Well, as a reader I'm trying to figure out what the poet is trying to say. And on the subject of Love, I've never been that astute. So, I'll just have to be at the mercy of your words. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

she thought she might like to be in love, but after she met a guy who pretended he loved her and then walked out on her she decided she didn't want to be in love. Love hurts at times. LOL Thanks for the review Ric. Nancy:)

This swap quatrain, Some Thoughts on Love, has the proper formatting and reflects the ideas of an evolving stance on what makes love work and what is just too much work.

Oh my goodness, Nancy. You've done more than do this form justice. You've essentially taught a master class on how it's done! I don't think I've tried a Swap Quatrain yet, but it looks like so much fun to do, and you certainly do it beautifully. You make everything seem organic, i.e., each line works perfectly on its own, without the line reversal calling any attention to itself.

You set a very definite mood of anger and resentment. I particularly thought the line "I learned the meaning of pretend" said so much without going into any detail. Just the idea that you used the word "pretend," rather than "lie," spoke volumes.

As always, of course, your rhymes are perfect.

Words are easy to say, harder to live out. Pretending, if the feelings are not truly there, is cruel and heartless. The last stanza shows the very real hurt and disillusionment. Well written, Nancy.

We do have to be careful about to whom we give our hearts. Your swap quatrain gives us a sober warning about those who are glib with words that are not supported by true love and commitment. Thanks for repromoting so we could enjoy this. I already reviewed your other repromotion.

Oh, and Wayne Fowler is writing a western and I thought of your western book. Just FYI if you're interested and have the time and eye strength.

I loved your swap quatrain poem. The repetition was fun. Also, it reminds me of having my heart broken not too long ago - and it showed me the meaning of pretend, as you say. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Beautifully written poem on the sad side of love. Many talk love but not all live love. Some are hurt badly, never to trust love again. Some live through disappointments and their live survives.

An interesting take on love and experience. I'm glad you marked it as humor, because I'd be sad if it were true that someone promised love and then walked out. I like the use and modification of the repeated lines. Nicely written. Blessings. Carol
