Isn't it just the most wonderful thing to observe a little child progressing through life's footsteps, and to think you can record it all in beautiful poetry for him... Poetry that any child can recite with pleasure like this one with lovely rhyme and perfect meter. Who would have thought of recording the first library drop? I ask you, well done, Brooke. Giddy

    Thanks so much, Giddy - My daughter records EVERYTHING. LOL Her husband and brother believe she's a bit wacko, but I'm grateful she does :-) Brooke

This one was a joy to read. I only hope future generations will continue to enjoy books. Unfortunately, I think hardback books and libraries may soon be a thing of the past. Happy 4th. T2

    I hope you had a good Fourth too - I sure hope books remain for kids, who need to be held on Mommy's lap and love the brightly colored pictures :-) Thanks so much for your thoughtful response to this poem. Brooke

A picture to be treasured! Love the poem, never thought of the book drop that way before, how wonderfully creative! I took my son to the library weekly when he was a child, and my husband and I go religiously every 3 weeks, and check out everything from Amish life to art, cooking,China, and Billy the Kid (my husbands!)..not a better place to write a poem about!

Delightful personification. The book drop does look like a mouth. And oh the stuff it must have to eat! Mountains, skyscrapers, swords and pirates. Great details. Another fun read.

Ingenious to say the least. I am a trustee of a 140 year old public library. I wil share this piece with our staff. They will, I am certain, enjoy it as I have. Congratulations to you .

Hi Brooke,

This is a really creative take on the gobbling mouth book drop and all the different critters and varmints that pass through it.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jax

I love the imagery here and would have loved reading this poem as a child. The break down of a Library Book Drop eating up all of those magical moments - I can visualise the build up on the other side - delicious.

I had a bad experience the last time I used a library drop-off--their were a couple of returned books that did not slide down the chute, the chute wouldn't close-it was stuck, so I turned around and walked away!
It appears that Sawyer didn't have the difficulty that I experienced;
Well-penned quatrains as the library offers more than exciting books to read--it also allows us to travel to exotic places.
