Brooke: so sweet. They are so young and, yet, obviously know love. They know how to play together and hold hands together and the occasional kiss. . .such a delight to watch them in action. And, you write so grandly about their every action which keeps this old woman happy. Nice write. Linda

Linda, thank you so much - yep, it is true puppy love LOL :-) And her favorite thing to say is "Sawyer is so cute." :-)

Oh my! What an incredibly beautiful poem - truly masterful romance (a favorite of mine, in case you hadn't guessed - LOL). Honestly, I think this is one of the finest I've read, Brooke, and I'm actually welling up with tears at the beauty.

That you've made it about these two children is precious, but of course, it works so well for any two lovers (as long as one of them is named Chloe - just kiddin' - *grin*)

Once more I DON"T HAVE ANY SIXES!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

Thanks, Dawn, so very much :-) I thought about whether I should use Chloe's name, but I figure lots of pop love songs mention a name :-) and I just LOVE the way her name sounds when spoken aloud :-) Brooke

Oh, ME TOO! It's such a beautiful name! And it really isn't a problem at all - the poem still works so well for ALL lovers because readers wouldn't connect with the name, really - not without knowing the intimate details/the person - right?

BTW, the new picture of Sawyer (for July 4th.) is just a tad upsetting - he'd growing so quickly!!! LOL

I know - Miranda commented woefully that his long, slim legs make him look more like 4 than 26 months, and add to that his amazing vocabulary and I'm sure many people think he actually is 4.

sniff, sniff sniffle...boo-hoo...ma baby! (LOL - all kidding aside, where does the time go? He really is looking so much more a 'boy' now, and so much less a baby, you know? Must be hard on Grandmom too. LOL)

My daughter and I keep consoling each other LOL And he is so mature in so many things. The other day he had a play date with another little boy, who is his age, and he taught the kid how to take down the table umbrella - he actually gave him directions!

So cute, Brooke. Chloe's mom allows her to share in Sawyer's celebrity. "Excuse me as a bask awhile -- (all good revealed) in Chloe's smile." They sure are a cute couple! Love is a child's natural state until the world teaches them otherwise. I loved the picture, too.

Well, a perfect poem to start my day. Nothing is more precious than a child, especially two like the photo. Thanks Brooke for another smile. Blessings

Hello Brooke,
What a lovely piece of Romance Poetry this is!
Wording is simple and impressive - transparently expressing your Sawyer's own feelings in the 2nd stanza.
Smooth and pleasant flow throughout the poem with nice rhyming scheme and lively imagery.
"I've lost my heart to Chloe's smile,
her winsome ways that so beguile.
With all the love I can impart,
to Chloe's smile, I've lost my heart."
Marvelous!
[Congratulations to Sawyer who deserves to be honored with SIX STARS for such a beautiful/mature decision at such an early stage. I really enjoyed it very much.]

You really can't blame him can you; she's a real honey. I think smiles are a great way to see the good in people. An honest, warm smile like Chloe's should be enough for him. Your sweet poem captures this moment of puppy love with subtlty and good taste.

Thanks so much, Mark - not only is she a honey, but she threw herself at him. She is forever kissing his cheek and hugging him and touching him and calling him cute. He finally just gave in. LOL Brooke :-)

We men can only dream that it were so easy.

Most grown women have learned the art of playing hard to get - the two year olds haven't learned from their moms and older sisters how to do this yet. LOL

A form I've never read before, but I loved it. It had the same effect as a refrain line, I felt, but with a more fun, upbeat feel. Romance poetry, maybe, but I felt, perhaps because of the picture, that it would be more correctly described as love poetry. The love of two children, wholesome and innocent, swept up in their dreams and daytime delights. A most beautiful write, Brooke. Thank you for sharing.

Blessings,

~ J.

P.S. I'm sorry for bombarding you with reviews! I'm trying to catch up on my reviewing, as I try to review every work I read.

It would sure be nice if children could speak so fluently in expressive ways like that. At least we can count on the words you find for them... nice job !!

Thanks so much, Gargantuan :-) Yeah, Sawyer doesn't speak in poetry yet, but he's getting there. I know he melts my heart when he says, "I love you, Grandma." LOL :-) Brooke

This is a beautiful picture and this is also a wonderful poem that the author has created to expand on this scene. These two young people look so happy. I wish we could stay that way always.

Yes, there's something charming about a smile - we don't see enough of them when we're out and about. Love the poem and the show of affection. A very warm poem. Pete
