You've gone "up and up and up" with this one, Brooke! But that's not unusual. A very thought provoking poem: where is down and where is up, after all? I love the repetition of "down and down and down," and your alliteration is really well done. I am waiting for you to publish, Brooke. If I had a six, I'd give it to you. Thanks for another well crafted poem. Alana

You have mastered the art of thinking the way a child might think, Brooke. This is so cute and whimsical and a unique mixture of adult logic and child-like vision of the world. I truly enjoyed this. You are a poet indeed!

How cute! I'm always amazed at how you can recapture your inner child's fanciful mind. I love how you portray 'up' as a place - what a darling poem. Hugs, Lou

Dear Brooke - some wise words to ponder my friend. I think we see more when we are "down" - Cutie Pie is a wizard:)
Great writing, fun and light.
Thanks for sharing.

CUTE! AND MORE CUTE! Some of my first graders struggle with up and down. I will be sure to read them this poem. It may help.

Thanks so much, Barbara - and God bless those little ones. Sawyer has up and down straight for a very long time now. I appreciate your generous sixth star. Brooke

Love your whimsically philosophical quatern.

There are days when I too wonder where up is. LOL

I find the form of this one most satisfying. Love how the repeating line progressively shifts position in the stanzas.

Hugs, d

I adore the quatern. It is enough of a form to be a named form, but not as complex and restricting as something like the villanelle. Thank you so very much, Diane. I've been holding on to two sixes all week long. You and Lee both better post something soon before I get tired of saving them. LOL Brooke :-)

Fascinating concepts, up and down and round and round. Kids have so much to absorb and every bit of it is fascinating. Nice to rediscover the world through a child's eyes. Great stuff, Brooke!

Thanks for your positive comments, Adrienne. Any reason for the 4 rating? Brooke :-)

Just a mistake, Brooke. I will correct. I appreciate you pointing it out. You know I never award you less than five. You are perfection, girl!

Aha! So that is where down is found. I believe that knowing where down is found is equally important to knowing where up is. You see I already know that to get to up, one must leave down behind. Down is familiar, secure and good, up is unknown and maybe just a little dangerous. If you fall down here from up there, you might get hurt a little bit and that scares me. I don't know if I want to go up there after all. Awesome poem Brooke.

Very nicely done
Reads like a river flowing smoothly
Get rhyme and rythum
I know children love doing this and it is funny watching them get up being dizzy and trying to stand.
Thank You for sharing.

This is truly professional quality (IMHO)

Besides being a darling, amusing, and highly entertaining story - I could find no fault.

Are you (or have you), published this yet?
