Brooke, I enjoyed this Write a QUATERN about Summer writing prompt entry. It has a valuable moral to the story about how the things that go unnoticed in our lives can turn out to be the very thing that enriches it. Well done with solid execution of the rhyme, syllable and word count. All the best in the contest! :0 GracieAnn

I have always appreciated the dandelion from when my children brought me bouquets of them to my "back to nature" days when I made dandelion coffee of the roots, dandelion wine from the blossoms and added the greens to salads. I really enjoy your dandelion poems and this one was particularly special. Perfect rhyme and great repeating line in this very creative poem. Even the title makes me smile.
Happy 4th.

Another beautiful poem....as always!
You have easily met all the criteria for the Summer Quatern writing prompt.
The use of anthropomorphism adds a deeper layer of meaning to your words. Personifying the dandelion (and breeze, sun and rain) enhanced my connection to them, and revealed them as characters rather than elements.
Very well written :)

I've been waiting for one of your "dandelion" poems! I relished the repeats and rhymes of your quatrain, along with your abundant use of personification. Cheers and best wishes in the contest- Joan

It's all a matter of timing - sometimes I reply 30 seconds after receiving a review and sometimes a week later if that review ends up buried under later reviews :-)

Yep, I understand the unregulated timing--it's just fun to have what feels like a real conversation from time to time! More hugs- Joan

I'll bet yellow I one of your favorite colors. If my garden wasn't over run in buttercups and the yard in dandelions, I could almost sympathize with poor Mr. Blue. Love them In the field, but that is where the love affair ends...lol. Good luck in the contest.

This is such a sunny, summery poem, Brooke, with a lovely story in it. I will never look at a field of dandelions in the same way again. Do you call them 'Old Father Time' when they have gone to seed? When we were children, we would blow the seeds until they had all gone, and the amount of puffs told us the time. It was never right though! LOL. I think this is an excellent contest entry, and I wish you the best of luck. xsx Sandra

Sandra, I've heard other reviewers talk about clocks and Old Father Time, but no, people in my neighborhood did not use those terms :-) Thanks so much for your kind contest wishes and for your thoughtful review :-) Brooke

You are such a whiz at the technical side of poetry, Brooke. I do enjoy the sound of the repeating line. I provides such a beautiful rhythm. A lovely poem.
I wonder what the fate of the dandelion would have been if some horticulturist thought this weed as worthy as Queen Anne's Lace? My grandmother used to gather the flowers and made dandelion wine.

The summer months surely brings a lot of dandelions and I sort of enjoy seeing them. They serve as an extra decoration and adds a bright color to your yard. Good luck in the contest. Take care. Bill
