I'm so stoked right now, after reading this! Great flow. The build up of tension is brilliant, from start to finish,
A couple of wee suggestions/nits:
The beast had been clear about its dimensions: 6x6x6. - a suggestion if I may, Bev. It sounds like the beast's own dimensions. So maybe: The beast had been specific about the dimensions of the hole; 6x6x6.
I love the allusion to the sign of the beast though! Brilliant touch. Reminds me of The Omen - classic horror.
AMAZING confrontation with Billy's spirit, followed by the shoot-out. Just superb. I love the message Billy gave Edward. There's a strong lesson there, Bev.

"The cabin's down () at the end of this lane, Father. - think there's an errant 'is' in there.
His face had reflected the light of a soul approaching peace. - Mmm - love that!
Strange, there's been no trace (of) him.
"It's Rick's shield. Ty. My God, that's who Father Brian's gone after." - I got goose bumps. What a hook to leave us with, Bev.
Another edge-of-the-seat write, my friend. Fantastic work.
