Gorgeous photo, Brooke.
I love the images your poem brings to mind.
Strong rhyme and 8/6 meter throughout.
I didn't know a group of butterflies were called a kaleidoscope.
That's perfect!

I like to think of the Great Outdoors as being God's Cathedral. This is very well written with a smoogh flow of words, making for a very good read.

I did not know that a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope. How appropriate. You have written a lovely poem that paints a beautiful picture of a field of flowers with a huge crowd of butterflies floating above it.

This work has reached the exceptional level

If Heaven ever visits Earth,
I wonder shall I see
kaleidoscopes of butterflies
who've come to call on me.

Just beautiful - the bright and breezy poem that flow so smoothly and the whole presentation - such a treat.

Off to meet Richard in half an hour - can't wait to hug him close.

Margaret

Margaret, thank you so much. I am particularly pleased with this poem, so I truly appreciate your encouraging sixth star :-) When you're hugging your son, add an extra squeeze for me on behalf of moms and grandmoms everywhere who wish they were hugging their own precious ones :-)

What a wonderful picture Stunning indeed.
I never knew a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope--how fitting--and what a fabulous premise for a poem too.

As usual, fine flow and rhyming--especially like request and behest- gold and behold. I like the repeat of BEH in those two too. Nice resonance.

Beautiful presentation and match between image and words. Enjoyed

Love,
rd

thanks so much, rd - I didn't know that was the name either until I Googled while writing this - and what a delightful surprise to find out it wasn't named something unpoetic like a herd. LOL Brooke :-)

If I could give you a ten gold star I would give this to you! What a awesome, inspiring, terrific poem. Something so small yet so beautiful and delicate is a joy to see and watch fly.

You are welcome. I hope that my butterfly garden will be this pretty soon. I have deer that keep eating my lilies and hostas. Thank you for all of your editing tips and great advice. flylikeaneagle

You make us ponder, Brooke, about what we might find in Heaven. The image of "kaleidoscopes of butterflies" is so "heavenly" and stirs the imagination.
I like the way you weaved your refrain "kaleidoscopes of butterflies" into each stanza. Rod
