It's always shocking when a fellow FanStorian passes away. Although, as you point out, our friendships are real, we don't have physical contact. So, you don't know about anyone's physical condition unless they tell you. That is also a positive. They are free to write and not answer tons of questions about their health. A great escape from reality. I love your thoughts on this subject, and always enjoy your 'ramblings'.

I'll bet Songbyrd and Gungalo are enjoying a special place in heaven.

Mikey, I didn't even know about Songbyrd! Pam/Gungalo was so well known, everyone seemed to know before I heard of it. We've lost a half dozen FS members to Heaven since I joined just over two years ago. That's life; death is part of it for us all.

Beautiful writeup, Mikey. I have also been wondering about Evelyn Fort Stewart. The last I heard from her she was celebrating her 84th birthday here on FS. I don't remember Songbird. Maybe she was here before I came back to FS. I know all here are going to miss Pam. I once told her that when she signed her reviews with a "sigh" I know I had it right. That meant more to me than a thousand sixers. We are all going to miss her "smiles!" I totally agree with your thought on the freindship here. If it's not true... why do we keep coming back day after day? :)shawn

I'm starting to come round to your way of thinking, Mikey. I didn't know Songybird (knew her by pseudonym only), but I knew Gungalo slightly. When a writer dies, this place seems less surreal, more human, and by way of that, more tragic when a fellow writer passes or suffers major illness. I have friends here who I just connected with over almost nothing. A conversation over an idea, or a simple questions that triggers a sincere response. The support from these people is uplifting, educational, and socially enhancing.

I loved Gungalo's beautiful, sensitive writing. She was a star among us.

Good on you for expressing these worthy thoughts at this difficult time.
Songybird: RIP
Gungalo:RIP

May God Be With You

Thanks for the write as many if us are grieving this horrible loss.
I agree with your write because I do hope to meet some of these friends someday.
I wanted to go to St.Thomas to meet Pam.
We have had eight losses since January of this year so it wasn't possible. One was my mother -in-law.
Only another writer knows what we are comprised of.
I have a few close freudns that enjoy my poetry but haven't a clue about the process.
Sister Scorpio( Pam)surely did!

It is sad when "family" goes missing or has passed on. You wrote lovely words about someone who obviously meant a lot to you. Very nice tribute.

I have read so many memories and poems on here about Pam, they have all been inspirational! Pam must have been an incredible Woman, poet and authoress, I didn't know her but through everyone's words on here I feel that I am beginning to know her, alas too late, God bless.

From a fellow passenger in that boat - I thoroughly enjoyed reading this "ramble." I agree about the friendships here and the opportunity to bond with those of you 'own kind.' And we are a distinct breed.

Bright stars in our little, personal spheres, but simply a light among many on the site. This comes across as written from the heart with both gratitude and sadness. I enjoyed your write!

It was very gracious of you to pen these well-concieved words for your friends and the way they haveimpacted your life. You also shared your own feelings of the wide writting community here and it's value. Thanks for the time to think and meditate on your words--Ted

Being very new here I did not know either of these people and from what I am reading that is my loss. I have read two tributes to Pam today and I can tell she was very well thought of here. This if the first I've heard of Songbyrd. I would like to thank you for filling me in on her and her work. It is always sad to lose friends and with these two it sounds as if we will all be missing their talents.

You'll get to know people as you are here longer. There are a lot of great people here and we have so much in common since we are all writers. Friendships develop pretty quick. These were two nice ladies and artists. Pam was a very prominent gal. Songbyrd not so much, newer and not as well known. Just a good friend. Glad to introduce you. Stop by their profiles and take a look. Some great writing. Take care, mikey
