"I was just gonna' shut down that dang brolly mama!" Cute story telling - we are supposed to arrive on planet earth fully equipped to deal with all situations - a Frenchman designed the umbrella and the Biro too - still, Sawyer jogs along discovering the Living Planet. Well done nana.

He is growing up fast ,isn't he? but has still that million dollar smile on him.now it is question time for Miranda.I am sure she has her ears full with 'why' questions.
Your poem reminds me of a swing.Rhythmic movements from 'somebody to 'nobody'.absolutely delightful poem ,very very poetically realistic about a little boy's curiosity.

Oh dear Sawyer, now tell me something. If you should know how fairies glow, or why the skies are blue, or where the waves are rolling to. Or why rivers bend, and why the rainbow's end, or where falling stars may go? Well then, I have to say that of course you don't know because we, as adults don't either! Only God knows the answers to this, so ask Him in one of your prayers before bed, and you never know, but He just might give you the answers! Love this Brooke. . .Sharon

Hi. Childhood curiosity...I remember asking so many questions my dad bought me a set of World Books, I was 6, and said 'read it yourself'
This poem brought that memory up, thanks.

yup, Brooke, I was reading at 4. I was writing by 5. Math, well, that is another story:-)
My dad had a lot of issues. But, he loved books and for that I am truly grateful.

When I was 9 my dad bought me the deluxe edition of the World Book. I actually still own volume P because of the article it has in it about painting, illustrated with many full-color pictures of art I fell in love with from that book :-)

Hi. I miss the World Book...Google just isn't quite the same. I had the H for horse until I moved to Germany, sadly it was damged in storage.
Funny how these wee things can change our lives.

The poem is of this writer's usual quality. Excellent.
I ripped up the seedling, for the dead branch that fell and lay on it for just two days had deformed it at the soil. How careful we must be...as the twig is bent...

Just had to answer you in a poem
ODE TO ADEWPEARL
Somebody loves to write about children's dreams
Of children's minds and what they think
Somebody loves her grandkids it seems
I'm writing this ditty with a wink!
Someone should write about babbling "Brook"s
To give the fanstory poets funny looks
For without a grandkid there insight
another subject try as she might
But this is what good grandmas do
They even write when on the loo!
They write while ironing and washing as well
But about her grandkids; you can't half tell!!
Someone has the night light burning
To get in the top 12 is always her yearning
But I'll always make sure I salute
Because I'm shit scared that she might mute
Oh Adewpearl, you never let me down
You rectify this poetic clown
who always writes in silly rhyme
and loves to shitstir! Is that a crime?
So I leave you now with just one thought
all dips comments add up to nought
because deep down here she is a good sport
that's until my next retort!!
xxxdip
PS just have to make this my second ode to ADEWPEARL!

I promise I don't write on the loo but I have been known to think up ideas in the tub
Thanks so much, Dip, for your poetic ode :-) My eyes are welling up ;-) Brooke

I can spend ages watching our cat Ozzy, who is fascinated by how things work. If we ever put up the flap on the table, he'll spend a whole afternoon inspecting the hinges, as though figuring out their engineering secrets. There are few more compelling experiences than figuring something out like that :-)

These are the kind of questions a little child will ask a parent or grandparent or trusted grown-up friend. What a compliment to be thought to know all these answers. This is a fun poem. Love, Jeanie

Love this, Brooke--so witty and whimsical. Superbly musical--sounds great read aloud. What an adorable picture of Sawyer, too.
Love the alliteration here:
why bubbles burst and breezes blow,
To have four words alliterated without the device being distracting take finesse. Bravo!
Favorite stanza:
I haven't yet learned why skies are blue
or where the waves are rolling to,
but somebody thinks I ought to know,
and everyone says, "I told you so."
Great flow and good rhyming.
Enjoyed.
Warmly, rd
