My three goals for this book are:
1) To let others with disabilities know they are not alone.
2) To give the non-disabled a chance to see into our world.
3) To show the therapeutic value of writing in dealing with illness.
And you've proven how well it works, Debbie. Congratulations on the book. I hope it will help a lot of people. :)

What a wonderful prologue, introduction to you and your writing journey, and free gift to your colleagues, dear Debbie! When I was a middle school principal, our school housed ALL of the children with "disabilities" in the district, from ages 2-17, and including autism. These children were, indeed, gifted in so many ways and added so much to our entire school community. I look forward to downloading your book and am so pleased you are enjoying Japanese poetry forms. Remind me sometime to tell you a request that Alvin once made of me....Sue

Thanks so very much, Sue. Writing this has been an intense and often painful journey, but really helped me to understand how much grief I was in, which before I thought I was just being mean and grumpy.
Alvin had mentioned doing a book on the 'other-abled' as he referred to us. I still think that would be a great idea and I had started some work on that which he liked~Debbie
