A ladybug is one of Nature's marvels, so attractive and so harmless. I can even let one crawl on my hand, other bugs, no! You have made great choice of rhyme and lovely images of Nature to compliment your poem, along with a super pic. Most enjoyable, as always. Faye

Thanks so much, Faye - I invite them to crawl on me too, and I guarantee you I would freak out if certain other bugs tried that. LOL :-) Brooke

Fun little rhyme. Who doesn't love a ladybug? Grrreat photo. Miranda's getting to be a pro! Fun to read this one out loud... I couldn't resist.

Oh, how fun Brooke! I love ladybugs (collect them actually). The meter just romps along in a very playful mood, reflecting the content of the poem. Wonderful use of consonance, especially with the "s" sound. What do you think about "a special place to play" vs. "stay"? I enjoyed this piece immensely. Sue

Thanks so much, Sue - I considered play and went with stay - I'll think it over some more :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke,

This is a very nice poem, but I know that everything you write will be good. Mara del Mar must have had a great camera to get such a nice picture of the cute ladybug.

Easy to visualize this ladybug "ambling" to her several spots, Brooke.
Excellent use of the refrain "this ladybug of several dots" in every stanza.
The poem certainly makes us SEE the insect and does a wonderful job of personifying her as a sun-seeker. Rod

Most insect, including the Ladybug attracts a child's attention. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

Charlie, thanks so much. Yep, Sawyer and his mom take a walk around the block every morning, and it often takes twice as long as it otherwise would because Sawyer makes several stops to admire a variety of bugs :-) Brooke

Let me see if I've got this straight.
The lady bug had lots of spots--physical markings. Am I right so far?
And she also had lots of spots--locations--where she liked to bask her many spots? Am I connecting the dots?

Just having fun, Brooke.

I have a special fondness for this kind of word play.

Just for clarification, what is the correct term of address for a Mr. Lady Bug?

Peace, Lee

Oh, you have me laughing and even considering Googling how to engage a Mr. Lady Bug. LOL Thank you, Lee. If I ever need to laugh, I know you are there :-) I appreciate your sixth star, my friend, almost as much as I appreciate your humor :-) Brooke

A nice poem which writes about a ladybug, I like the repetitive the ladybug of several dots! This was a very cool rhyming work, it is very smoothly and tidily written! There was a nice smooth flow, nice aabb rhyme scheme, the meter is nice and even. Blessings, Roy.
