This was a very fun poem to read and I bet your profile picture has a lot to do with the joy that comes through into this piece. This ladybug I'd like to meet. Maybe we can share some new places! I loved this. It reminded me of the Lion king where the hog and its friend were taking Simba around the waterfall. (I didn't want to misspell their names so i said it like so)

A lovely 'spots and dots' poem and I love it. Perfect Quatern regarding number of lines and syllables count. The first line refrain occurs throughout in the right place and produces a faultless poem with the rhyming couplets flowing easily and not at all contrived to achieve rhyme. A good read. Regards Dorothy

Very clever, Brooke - As far as fun poems go - This one hit the spot. Just the other day, I was playing with one in my garden - I guess it's something one never out-grows - at least I hope not.
This one would be lots of fun for little readers.
Rose.

Lady bugs, my favorite live aboard in my garden. Have you ever seen them in their reproductive stages? Similar to the caterpillar/butterfly, the ladybug's/almost caterpillar, is the cutest little, purple/orange highlights body, before becoming a red or orange/dirty yellow, ladybug. If I remember correctly, the spots can tell how long it's lived. and the best flourishing garden is one that has many ladybugs in it.
Good rhyming fun

Hippodamia is one species, I have to check this info out. I am doubting myself now. It has been about 14 yrs since classes

Who hasn't seen these delightful little spotted creatures meandering about in their simple, carefree way? Well, unless you live in the arctic or Alaska, perhaps, but most of us have.

I'll admit, however, I've never thought about their about their wobbly walks and adventures from their perspective before now.

Wonderful lighthearted piece from you today, Brooke. On second thought, that's ever day, LOL!

Well done!

Hi, Brooke:-)
"A Ladybug of Several Dots" is an excellent children's poem with imaginative insect characterization good rhyme and rhythm which will delight any child's imagination. It has good flow and a rhyme scheme consistently followed. It has good imagery and figurative language.(grace on every green and leafy. I do find the 'ot rhyme a bit repetitive.

Thanks so much, Preston. The quatern is a rhyming form with the repeated line that has to rhyme in each stanza. The only way to get around that much rhyming of the same sound would be to write in a different form :-) Brooke

What a fun poem to right. It sounded as bright and cheerful as that ladybug's day must have been. What a smart little ladybug, to enjoy the sun and the day like that.
