your poem is an eulogy to the world of the Ladybug. You clearly pointed out the good and beautiful realm that the ladybug operates; it is connected to nature. Good

You certainly have a talent for writing for children. I read this poem aloud and loved its "mouth feel". Your word choices are fun and attention grabbing. Always a pleasure to read your work.

This one stirred pleasant memories for me -- and also memories shared with a precious child. As you know, in my "senior years" I still give love-care to babies and preschool children. Yesterday I got the pleasure of seeing for the first time in four years a little boy that I cared for until he became school age. His grandmother was preparing him because we were not sure how much he would remember. He said I remember painting ladybugs on rocks at her house (he is very talented artistically) and the big white tree in her front yard. When it blossoms in the spring it looks like a giant snowman. One morning as his dad dropped him off he told his dad -- "Maw-maw Jean did that just for me." No, I can make trees blossom but the love of that little boy still blossoms in my heart. Love that precious grandchild while you can, Brooke. They grow up fast and often another path carry them far away.

This ladybug of several dots is adorable. As a child, I loved catching them and watching them walk up and down on my arm. You capture a child's mind.

Well written poem good for children and adults. It follows the quatern format well.
It seems to have a lesson in it. We should all learn to find beauty everywhere we look and not just stay in one place. If we can't see the beauty all around then we are not living life correctly.
Keep writing.

Oh yes, a beautiful form with a very beautiful picture. What a sweet and beautiful little bug, this ladybug. Edward on rhyming, tell a true and very good little story, about the ladybug.

I must still be a child. I just love these pieces. They flow so beautifully and bring a smile that stays long after reading them. Somehow you click on the perfect theme and I think that is the key to what makes them so enjoyable. Spots on a ladybug. How perfect is that? Great poem. mikey

Delightful! I love ladybugs. In fact I just saw a project where you take bowling balls and paint them to look like ladybugs and put them in your garden. Now I just have to go garage sale shopping and find some bowling balls. LOL!
Blessings

Oh Brooke, I have been wondering about this for so very long and even researched, but can't find anything, and maybe you have the answer. As a young child and even a young adult, I have always see these beautiful red ladybugs with their black spots. In the last, I don't know, quite a few years, I've only seen the orange ones which my Mom told me were the Asian ones and even bite! My kids don't even remember these beautiful red ones. I loved your poem, and sorry that I digressed, but do you know the answer? Thanks friend. . .Sharon

Thanks so much, Sharon. I don't know why there are fewer now. There are also fewer lightning bugs, but also fewer mosquitoes.
More pesticides, I would guess. Brooke

Yes, I believe you are right. More to destroy what was, and what we miss. Not the mosquitoes though, lol.

Good use of the aabb rhyming scheme
Repeated lines and the excellent use of alliteration in
lots/spots,day/stay,one/sun,grass/pass,dots/spots
grace/place, allots/dots lend a special rhythm to the piece.
