The rabbit nailed to a cross is something I never heard of before. Yes, if you are referring to the rabbit laying chocolate eggs as a symbol, I can see your meaning as a trivial one.

I think all Christian holidays have been stolen by the unbelievers so they could celebrate something as well. Many countries celebrate Christmas, but they are not Christian in theology. They call it something else and take the time to celebrate some copy, I guess. I am not a theologian, but that is how it appears to me.

Well it was a dream that started this. This is my interpretation of it. Who knows what it really means, or if it really means anything. Thank you for reading.

Good story with memories of the olden times, sharing food and friendship. I like your poem and dream. The clothes change and attitudes change but we can move on.

Some dreams are very vivid, this one must have been so. I think you have written this poem so well, and I also think you are very lucky to have remembered it. I often have been awoken by an inspirational dream, only to forget it in the morning. I did enjoy yours and it was such a pleasure to read. xsx Sandra

I often get inspiration from dreams, I'll wake up with song lyrics or lines from a poem going through my head. I hate it when I don't get anything written down before I forget it. Thank you for reading.

Some of the things we do, and the rituals we keep do not make sense. Sometimes, nothing makes sense. But, man is a creature of rituals, if nothing else.
I liked the references to Christopher Columbia 'discovering' America. You are right - it was not lost. And you are also right in that with him came plagues like measles and chicken-pox that nearly wiped out many of the inhabitants. Then, the governments of Europe stole all their land and gold. I'm sure the Incas and the people of the West Indies had hoped that Christopher was the one who got lost.

A good poem of introspection.
Rose.

We have forgotten where a lot of our customs came from. I think we would be surprised by the meaning of some of them. Thank you for reading and for the feedback.

An interesting poem. There are some that interpret dreams. Every dreams has a meaning in a cosmic universe.

I liked your philosophical thoughts. Very much liked your rhyme and flow.

Well done.

I think our dreams are sometimes trying to make sense of things we see and think throughout the day. Or maybe I'm just crazy. Thanks for reading.

Are we on a jigsaw puzzle? I ask myself. Let's put it this way - 1. you are in bed and dreaming (thinking), 2. you are off to your office and tearing your shirts. Wonderful. I like those images. Now the combination lock - we have been blundering and we don't learn. Questions and more questions. Now the answer: ??? I love such philosophical stuff. I'm on the edge of getting crazy. Thanks a lot.

Often when our minds are in turmoil over things difficult to resolve while we are awake, they come back to haunt us in our dreams. Some of our ancestors and some of our contemporaries are guilty of doing things that we recognize as being morally wrong and this may bother us. Being unable to actually make right the things we see as wrong will bother us. This is a powerful piece of writing. Congratulations.

There are a lot of wrongs throughout history that we have no way of making up for. Nothing we do now makes any difference to those who were wronged. All we can do is try to do better in the future. Thank you for reading and for the feedback.

Your dreams sound just as mixed up and crazy as mine!

"There were a dozen dead natives with turkey to eat
People standing in line to wash a man's feet
Children dressed as demons awaiting a treat
In the south, millions re enact a defeat."

I too have the ability to completely mix up different events in the same dream such as Thanksgiving, Easter, Halloween and the Civil War.

This really makes me think about the origins of some of our holidays and why we celebrate them the way that we do.

Good rhyming, flow and presentation. Thank you for the helpful Author Notes. Nicely done!
