This is very telling. I love that it came in a dream but it's all about our history and how we choose to celebrate our holidays. You've done a beautiful job of weaving in the details and bringing it all together with thoughts of forgiveness and memories.

Thank you very much for your kind and generous review. This did start as a very strange dream when I had a fever. I'm kind of surprised I was able to remember enough to write it down. It got me thinking about our holiday traditions and where they came from. There is a lot of history there.

This is a beautifully written poem. I like the many facets and messages intertwined and interwoven together. It all flows together superbly from beginning to end. I also like the inspirational and thought provoking nature of this. I'm so glad that I happened upon this website in January of this year. There are many very talented writers here that I get to read some of their works and enjoy them. Thanks for sharing this. Great job Delahay. This poem is worthy of the awards it has received.

These jumbled dreams can make us wonder. What and why and how we celebrate our holidays. Some are leftover pagan rituals with the religious added onto them. I have always wondered how a bunny began to take over the Easter holiday!
This dream is written down here well. Your rhymes flow nicely.
Thanks for sharing!

That was the odd dream. A rabbit laying Easter eggs. Then I began wondering about our holiday traditions and where they came from. We've lost a lot of the meaning of the rites and why people started them.Thank you for reading and for your feedback.

I see that this was originally posted four years ago. It is a good one. Very well written and full of vivid beautiful imagery and great metaphors. I am going to reward you for reviving this post by giving you my last six star rating. Thank you for sharing. This was my favorite spot

"I rose from bed ready for work
The tie seemed strange banding my shirt
The woolen suit coat had no reason at all
This was a costume I couldn't recall"

Take care

Thank you so much for your generous review. I am honored you though so much of my poem. This really did start as a strange dream. It got me thinking about how our holidays came to have the imagery and meaning they do. I think some have changed a lot over time. I appreciate your feedback and comments.

Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem. I had hoped it would give a different perspective on several holidays but I did want to get people thinking in general about holidays and how they came to be. I appreciate the feedback.

edgy subject matter. we don't have the answers we can only ask
the questions. well done......meeshu

Well, it actually did start with a strange dream. It may have started with the idea of rabbits laying chocolate eggs. And I have no answers, just the questions. Thank you very much for your feedback.

This speaks how easy, naturally we forget dreams and experience memories fade but our acts ever last as we enjoy holidays; well said, well done. Thank you for sharing this with us. Keep Writing Inspire Changing -- DR ALCREATOR

I was kind of hoping for a commentary on where our holidays come from as well as how we treat each other. But I always like for people to take their own meaning from what I write. We all take different things from what we read. I appreciate your review and feedback.

"Memories fade, but your acts always last" is very philosophical statement of spiritual nature stating one might forget some memories, but good deeds people do will stay around forever. WELL DONE! Nicely worded. truly, liberty justice

Well done. It is a poem filled with un-answerable questions, but it really makes me think.
The reasons for doing what we do are mostly lost in time and we don't question them often enough.
Very well said.

Yes, we often don't know where our traditions come from. At times we think we know but are wrong. Thank you for reading and for your feedback.

I learned something here about traditions and how obscure they are but are steeped in history and make us wonder, a poem well rhymed and a great use of language, love Dolly x

The meanings of some of our traditions are lost in the past. Even when we think we know how something started we can be wrong. Thank you for the review.
