Oh yes 'tired eyes of pure mortals' are we not in a sense puny things against the majesty and sheer awe of this celestial 'production'- very interesting

I can't say I ever think like this when I go to sleep but for sure for some there will be no waking. But often do wonder if I will wake to the rising sun - it will rise but not necessarily where I am. Thought provoking. Regards Dorothy

so GW? What DO we have here? a statement ? an observation? A warning? lol

"The last look at perfection through tired eyes of pure mortals,
Will we awake to see the rising of the sun or sleep for eternity?"

I have to admit these two lines have really taken me in ...not only for interpretation but for shear pondering quality. I really like what you have said..not necessarily presented as a poem in my eyes but more as an important statement we all should take heed in and think about
thanks for sharing deepwater

Very short poem pared with a lovely picture. No one knows how long a life will be.

Good question, deepwater, one I have to ask myself every day. I have an advanced stage of heart disease, curable only through the intricate procedure of a heart transplant. I suffer from severe insomnia, sleeping two, three hours a night (if I'm very lucky) because I carry the fear of falling asleep and never waking up with me like a two-ton weight. It isn't the dying that bothers me, it's the not being able to say good-bye to the one's I love that's got me staying awake nights. So, I write, I watch over my family and pets, listening to the sounds of their sleeping. I read, I review, then I write some more.

This is a very profound verse; concise, yet complex.

Great work...

I appreciate the sentiment, of taking in all we can and accepting the beauty of each day, but I feel like your two lines need a little more concrete in their connection. 'Pure' is an odd word choice, too, as it suggests the existence of an opposite - impure mortals? I like the brevity and love the message - I just think it needs a little tweaking.

It's a very pertinent question you ask, in fact a profound statement. It could be on the bottom of a calendar for everyone to read. You have a particularly smashing picture. Giddy

well, this is a nicely penned poem.very brief but so profound and philosophical. It explores the theme of death which is the greatest fear of man brilliantly.the rhetorical question in the last verse appeals to us and renders the poem more thought-provoking.love the pic that complements the poem too.Good work!

'Creation Sleeps' is an extremely well-written and thought-provoking piece. Not for a moment would I attempt to answer this talented poet's rhetorical question. It was a pleasure to both read and review a work of this calibre.

short and thought provoking... the question left behind is able to create a lot more questions!! but some more clarification would have made it more beautiful.. from my point of view. Though it itself is a beautiful creation! nice work :)
