Superb entry for the contest. Ironic and effective. I've seen some of those huge redwood trees that cars drive through--absurd! Excellent word economy. Excellent alliteration in line one. Superb twist in the closing line. Brilliant. Bravo. Good luck in the contest.

Warmly, rd

Big smiles. I will take this wonderful review as my prize!! I've been there myself. Man can be so childish sometimes. Well, I suppose that is an insult to children! Thank you kindly, mikey

Very nice. Five Stars. On prompt. Lucid.
It's simple. we waste our resources, our descendants starve and the earth is free of parasites and regrows her beauty again. No problem,

Ironic and satirical comment on 'progress', mystery writer.

The artwork tree is magnificent, and with a bit of luck, the driver of the gas-guggling car lost his wing mirrors. LOL.

Cheers, Ray

Man's mentality:
protecting nature's wonders-
driving cars thru them

The famous drive-through tree, the Wawona Tree, was a giant sequoia in Yosemite National Park. It fell over in 1969 under a heavy snowfall. There are three coast redwood drive-through trees on the coast. All are private businesses, which charge a small fee to drive your car through the tree. From north to south they are: Klamath Tour Thru Tree, Myers Flat Shrine Tree, and Leggett Chandelier Tree.

Loved the pic and the message.

I'm old enough to recall driving through it with my family on vacation when I was little. Crazy things humans come up with! Thank you for the extra info. Appreciated.

It terribly sad all the things being done to nature and our resources. Great 5-7-5 in perfect form. Good luck in the contest.

Yes. A shame. It has always bugged me that we thought it a good idea to bore a hole through something so wondrous as a giant tree. So childish.
