"A caterpillar creeps along
as if he crawls on feet of clay,
but soon he is a butterfly --
surprises happen every day".
Yes surprises do happen everyday! This is such a lovely and sweet poem. That Sawyer is too cute! I love that picture. The flow of your poem is lovely.
Nice job

The world can seem a lonely place
where smiles and laughs have gone astray,
till soon a friend is at the door --
surprises happen every day.
It si an amazing poem as usual Brooke, but what I love the most is seeing my friend Sawyers reaction, adorable. A beautiful invention of this poem, the away you wrote it, sounds so harmonies. Bravo. Love Terry xoxo

Delightful Brooke! My grandsons did this to each other last summer at the beach. Not me...I'm claustrophobic and would definitely panic.
Great rhyme and flow to this wonderful kyrielle. I loved the repeating line and as always...the wonderful message.
Well done.
Blessings

Hi Brooke,
A charming summer poem - although the opening lines appear to be describing the flourishing weeds in my garden.
That beach looks lovely! I trust you have discarded blankets and sweaters? We are much warmer, but very wet! LOL

Ron, thank you so much :-) Yes, it is now much warmer here though not nearly as nice as CA where Miranda and Sawyer live. Brooke

The perfect kyrielle structure-- rhyming quatrains
eight syllables in each line and a repeated line.
lovely poem of events that happen all around us every day and that we take for granted or maybe not even notice

I do love your Sunday verse, Brooke.
Yes, "surprises happen every day". That is one of the many miracles of life.
I am often surprised at how many people remain in gloom just because they refuse to open their eyes to this simple fact.
Again, you were my first read of the day and I am glad of it.
Hugs, d

Hi Brooke:)
While surprises happen every day, you never surprise me by introducing me to a new poetic format - in this case the complex, but beautiful kyrielle.
I love the way you built this poem around the great refrain, "surprises happen every day." Each of your quatrains uses great mental imagery or an action to illustrate various type of surprises.
I looked for counting errors in your octosyllabic, but I should have known better. Each line was perfect, so once more I send you love and Irish Hugs for your perfection.
