JudithPorter,

There's much truth in these few words, slowly we forget, find a mixture of thoughts, none having much meaning as we ponder...the process of aging indeed!.....You followed the 5-7-5 form perfectly!

Good luck in the contest!
Hugs,
Victoria

Spiral memories Suggest 'viral'
moving disjointed within How true. 'fractured'
loneliness prevails The worst 'disease' of all

Well done. Suggestions only. No disrespect intended.

Very well said and so very sad! My grandmother had Alzheimers and it was the saddest thing in the world. She had it for such a long time and she had 16 children and in the end she didn't know who any of us were. So very sad. This was great! Good luck in the contest

I think you hit the nail right on the head with "loneliness". So often it's easy for the younger generations to forget just how lonely it must be for the older generations - many who've had to watch friends and family pass on. Thank you for sharing such a gentle poem and good luck in the contest.

Dear Judith,
You have captured the essence and the pathos of ageing. Of my group of friends, three are suffering from dementia and are reaching the stage of withdrawal where "loneliness prevails". Well written.

A sad but correct 5/7/5 - perfect syllable count - a very good picture that suits the content of your poem. Good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy

Loneliness and anger. An accurate description combined with a hear wrenching visual. My mom had alzheimers, it was a slow moving progression on a down elevator to nowhere.

Thank you for reviewing my work and I am sorry for your personal experience with such a sad disease that is so misunderstood.

Oh, this is one 5-7-5 that truly hits the mark. Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease; two despicably vile ailments that rob some (usually the elderly, but that's not always the case) of their memories, and sadly, eventually, their lives.

Perfect photo to compliment your poignantly penned message.

Best of luck to you in the contest, Judith.

JudithPorter: mechanically correct 5/7/5. You have described in few words the core of advanced aging. This is an awesome write and should be a contender in the contest. Good luck with the contest. livelylinda
