Hi Sharyn,
This was a wonderfully rhymed and metered piece of work. I appreciated your message of the plight of the homeless, as I was recently touched to write a piece on their behalf myself. I loved the setting you portrayed with the feel of the cold city streets, and the idea that all could be improved by a change of heart and attitude. Well designed and delivered... all my best, Bill

Thank you so much for your lovely review, Bill - and, of course, for your magic sixer!

Highlighting your title will bring it up. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words. Ignoring the unfortunates makes them individual to those who don't want to admit the problem is there. Good job.

no, it doesn't help at all I'm afraid Charlie - I just gave up and put it in the body of the text!

I was able to read the title by dragging the cursor over it. it was highlighted blue over white. Sorry you are having problems.

Wow! Your poem is very good and I don't know if I completely understand it. Even your 'Author Notes' were quite an education. The picture did help in relation to your poem. And, isn't that what all artists do, create and express what they observe? Very impressive.

thx so much victor - the pantoum sonnet is a very specific form, so don't let the form confuse you ...

Well Sharyn, I get lost walking around the block. But I do appreciate it when someone has such a grasp of their craft and can explain it so well. That's impressive.

Never mind the concept feel the poem 1234'.
I just love this and it's rolling and such
rollicking rhythm. Repetition is all in this
diamond. Well, the reflection is repetitive.
Well worthy of my sixer. Eric

This is an interesting piece. It gave way to make me imagine, not only the world you described, but so much more. Good work and good luck.

A lyrically lovely Pantoum Sonnet, Sharyn, on a terribly sad subject. Talk about your irony! Beauty displaying the ugliness of life's less fortunate, and the callousness of some of those who observe them as less than human...

With city symphonies of pulsing lights
the bright and motley crowds will move as one.
In flowered parks that fade to smoky nights,
those coffee crowds are lemmings on the run.

As you stated in your description, John Lennon got it right.

Well done!

Very well done, Sharyn! If I were to recreate life, I'd leave out the trash-filled alleys and homeless who occupy them in favor of increasing business activity to give everyone a job that paid enough to support a family. And I'd structure govt aid to keep families TOGETHER instead of the way it is set up now... to remove the father from the home. Did you know that 50 years ago only 7% of black families had no father in the home? Today it is over ten times as many at 73%.

wow! I had no idea of that statistic, Phyllis! There's something very sick in a society where this could exist. My very first impression of New York as I was sitting in a taxi was the irony of a homeless man pushing a shopping trolley ... he was silhouetted against a limousine driving by ... it's always been an image that's stayed in my brain.

We've alway had extremes and always will. But the fact that a full 47% of adults do NOT pay any income tax is verrrry skewed toward poverty. We have far too many poor people, and now the middle class has lost a lot of their former income and/or buying power. It's only going to get worse as the fed keeps printing money and business is hamstringed by over-regulation and high taxes.

I hear you, Phyllis - I see all of those things and it cannot end well. The "Occupy" movement was just the first sign ... there will be more.
