Yeah, well...is that wrong? I went looking for these little beasties myself, about thirty years ago. I'd been sent on the quest by my best friend's father, saying he wanted us to catch one for jacakalope stew. Said it was the best thing we would ever taste. Of course, we ate fried SPAM that night, instead of jackalope stew. But, it was pretty tasty too!
Funny little nonet here, healfromwithin. Good luck to ya!

I've heard about this creature before. I'd hide if I looked like a rabbit with branches growing out of my head. Nice work about making a story out of it. Good luck in the contest.

Unseen, mythical animal, but one a great deal of us have already heard of. I got to say, that this poem content is actually very cool...Arizona is the true geographical origin of the jackalope. However, the place mentioned in any writing of one that is known and real, gives it special meaning. Nicely done!

Yes, this was fun to write; there were not any stipulations that the animal had to be "real" for the contest. The Jackalope was first popularised by Douglas Herrick of Wyoming in the 1930s. (their "sitings" have been reported all over the west, including AZ.)The "inventor" died in 2003; see this link: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/19/us/douglas-herrick-82-dies-father-of-west-s-jackalope.html
It seems that you liked the poem, yet you gave it 4 stars...Was there a typo or SPAG?
