Oh come on, your sword is hardly rusty. Maybe it's been outta action for a bit but when you have that fire in the er...belly, yeah..the belly, well,...you'll be back on top, Slick. Perfectly iambicated and flawless as always. Will WOULD be proud.

Oh, it's sharp and ready, my love. Just dipping into the warrior's world for a bit. Thanks so much, P!

Ha!Ha! Your sword, your sword, too dull to wield. I seriously doubt it. Good job with your Shakespearean Sonnet. It reminds me of some of his writings. 8-)

Thanks so much, boxer girl. You're right. It's sharp, honed, and ready...as always, but it was fun to get grizzled for this one. I appreciate it.

I thought this was really outstanding. My only suggestion would be to consider breaking it up into stanzas - the ideas in each stanza might be even more powerful then. Still, I think this deserves a 6.

Thanks so much, my friend, for that sixer. Sometimes I break them up, and sometimes I don't. You may be right about this one, though, since each stanza is very different.

Very nice with a great complimentary picture. I thought the lines flowed well with good imagery throughout. I like that you begin with a question and end with an answer that reads much like a battle cry.

Hi Marillion

I really like the subtle contrast from the sword in one hand and the feather quill in the other, and with the sunset makes it all the more striking.

Sort of like, when the man wearies of the battle of the sword, and then trades it to put pen to paper.

Well done.

Cheers

Beautifully sophisticated sonnet in elegant iambic pentameter, David. Your intricate rhymes such as destroyed and void, and blood and mud well set off the tone of the poem. It lets us feel and believe, this is something of a different nature - a cut above the norm.

Your description in the octet is vivid and eloquently glides into the philosophical ascendency of the sestet. The couplet furnishes a bold resurgence to break the wall and fight valorous even though well-past the edge of naive notions of glory's poetic sword.

Exceptional, dear one. Or, in short, I dig it man.

Gloria

Good to see you back, always a voice in the desert, and a smile with perfection given, lost once again in the image and more in the push of the keys, special once again the write and the words, best day you can find.. Walt

So many friends are foes; old foes, now friends,
Alliances established, then destroyed.
Such sweet beginnings led to bitter ends

How very true that is. One thing that's certain about life... things change. We change. Those around us change. And the human mind is so set in its ways that often it can't accept change. A warrior keeps fighting, even when it's no longer necessary or appropriate. And pacifists are too idealistic to fight when they have to. Life is simple, but it's too confusing for the most sophisticated brains that ever existed to handle.

Oh, yeah. We're doomed, all right. A brain is only as good as what you DO with it.

"Lay down you swords and shields.
Study war no more."

It'll never happen. What a waste of brain cells. Should've given them to horses.
