Beautiful poem for Easter - the colours of the garden relating to Sawyer's Crayola box. You have waited so long for winter to pick up her skirts and leave, now the colour of the flowers must catch your eye and make you feel so good. We are blessed, flowers all year in the sub-tropics.

Thank you so much, Kay :-) Yeah, Sawyer and Miranda get flowers all year too in southern California, but here we wait for them until they appear once more to steal our hearts :-) Brooke

It's not too green here yet but it's getting there. At least all the snow is gone. You did a great job with this friend. :)

This is such a cute, simple piece that I couldn't not leave a review to say that I really enjoyed it. It's the sort of prose that makes you want to stop and really enjoy, and think about the smaller, finer things in life. Congratulations on such a great piece and Happy Easter to you! :)

Your poem gives imagery of pastel colors of the growing grass, the magenta of the rose and the Easter clothes. Very enjoyable to read.

How delightful. My Crayola box only had traditional colors, red, blue and so on. Lovely poem and stunning artwork to go with it. Very nice work with this one.

Valerie, thank you :-) I had the 64 count box with the built in sharpener when I was little, and the tradition continues :-) Brooke

I got the one with a single row of color...now you've made me cry. I never got a sharpener with mine!!!
reply by the author on 20-Apr-2014
The sharpener only came with the big box. You deserve the big box - you should get yourself one :-)
reply by Sasha on 20-Apr-2014
Yes, I do deserve one! I'll get one first thing in the morning!

What an absolutely delifhtful poem, Brooke.

Nature does seem to preen and primp just for us.

If only eveyone could see it through your poet`s eyes, the world would be a lot better off.

Love it!!!

This was just lovely. It seemed to me that you stayed within the prescribed format very well, at the same time creating a verse a child would love to have read to them, or memorize, as children do with their favorite pieces, What a lovely way to help Sawyer memorize colors! No wonder he has such a remarkable vocabulary for a child his age!

I've always loved the word periwinkle; it has such a fairy-tale ring to it! Such a unique idea for the roots of a song; using the box of crayola. You seem to find a poem in the most ordinary of things and provide us all with a new way of looking at them. Enjoyed this one Brooke. :) Regards, Jan
