Poetry is sometimes difficult to explain when trying to explain outwardly. There seems not to be enough words to let one's self be understood fully...and why because it reveals emotion and emotion are born within, often without thought, persuaded by the moment.

This is a superb entry for the contest - What poetry means to me. You have given such lovely reasons for writing. Some of them I identify with. Regarding your mother's death - poetry has helped me in the same way as my mother is dead. I think poetry is a great healer. Good Luck in the contest with this fine poem. Regards Dorothy
