I love the word choice as well as the simple rhyming scheme. I can see why you won the contest. I love your message and your choice of words. It was a very wonderful poem all the way through is why you deserved the six stars.

Thank you for reading. I appreciate your feedback. My war was in a jungle but I believe soldiers today may feel something similar to what we went through.

Thank you.

The best of America is off fighting in a foreign land. It's past time that we bring them home. The countries of the Middle East have been fighting for thousands of years. Let them have it.

I agree. It seems impossible to have peace in the middle east. I don't know if it will ever happen. Thank you for reading and for your feedback.

Every soldier serving in a foreign land has this stanza of your poem in the back of his mind:
"It's three a.m. here, yesterday back home
Is she still waiting or has her life moved on
Am I fighting for freedom or the freedom to fight
How many wrongs will make what we do right"
Two important issues in the one stanza. Trouble is whatever the truthful answers the soldier is not in control. He's in the grip of fate. The third line of the quote above is superb.

Nice spiritual tribute piece to America's service members. Cites the Middle East campaigns and gives a poignant and emotionally evocative account of questioning ones mission and morality. Well done.

A very well written and interesting poem. Nicely crafted piece of work, a lot of doubts in the soldiers tale. A worthy winner for the spiritual contest and a poignant read. Thank you for sharing.
