I am not sure where to begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this. I am convinced you could write a poem about the telephone book and it would be a winner. I just love:

They trust the pond will hold them up,
its purpose to be buoyant --

Beautiful photo of Sawyer too. Marvelous work with this one, I enjoyed it immensely.

Valerie, thank you :-) I suppose if Sawyer ever falls in love with the phone book, I'll have to try. LOL :-) Brooke

you are so prolific brooke. nobody rhymes the way you do while finding a way to connect words to convey a wise message. buoyant and enjoyment, love it. wonder who that is watching the ducks give their lesson.

Isn't this true of all nature. We humans seem to be the only species that screws it up.
They trust the pond will hold them up,
its purpose to be buoyant --
A good example of faith.

Brooke, this is a thoughtful write that is well written and positive. I guess it all rides on faith. However one frames it, faith is a belief in something with a track record and the source may be seen or unseen. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

Your work has a nice calming flow both in the rhythm and the rhyme from start to finish. The art work also adds to the calming effect if the poem.

Well, It is a nicely written poem, in form, and I can see what you are trying to say. I think the example you chose is not really accurate, and that takes away from the message.

Ducks have so much trust in the water. I wish I could say the same. I'm what one might think as a scary swimmer. Had lessons and still I suck.

Another testament in your ability to take a photo and develop something profound within its meaning.

A simple life a duck leads as they try to show us in there own simple way.

Nicely done, Brooke (with Sawyer's help of course). John

I can relate--we saw lots of ducks during our recent trip. I also used to use the expression "Be a duck" when adversity struck! I enjoyed your rhythmic, rhymed quatrains and your wise advice. More hugs- Joan

A duck once told me what kind of doctor my neighbor's father was; "Quack!"
As always there was perfect rhyme and meter. This was a very cute poem--Ted
