Perfect poem Brooke,
telling us if we live with anxiety we will not feel the delight of as you say -

to be buoyant - which makes us happy.

Good use of the abcb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with teach/reach. Good alliteration with lead/lives...when/worry's...be/buoyant...hesitation/holds...with/worries...can/contentedly...with/what. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message.

This is wonderful, I never thought about this, the humble duck teaching us a lesson; " They trust the pond will hold them up,
its purpose to be buoyant --" Oh yes, Brooke!

Such a beautiful poem Brooke.

If mankind only trusted life in the same way ....

Instead, at best we act as if we give the pond its buoyancy, at worst ... a few try to own the whole pond.

You have such a light touch with the heavy truths of life.

LOVE IT.

Hugs, your devoted fan,d

This is lovely :D I've been going back and forth with this, letting anxiety get the best of me. It's great seeing these reminders around, thank you for sharing it. The flow was great, the rhyme was great. Even the photo was great. Very nice work.

Anxiety can rule our days
with worries it has brought us,
or we can live contentedly
with what the ducks have taught us.

A wonderful write for those who have worries Brooke. The rhyming is great and the flow excellent.

There is an enormous wisdom woven into this poem written as an ode to the peace loving life of the duck! This is written in excellent, expressive language, has a variable rhyme scheme that works, the meter is nice and even! Well done, Brooke, blessings,, Roy.

Such a lovely poem - and a wonderful picture
of Sawyer.

I noticed the Quatrians are 8/7/8/7, Brooke

are they also acceptable with 8 to each line or have
I got it wrong?

Margaret

Margaret, you can write poetry in 8/8/8/8 or in 8/6/8/6 or in 8/7/8/7 or in any other combination you like that sounds good :-)
8/6/8/6 is commonly called ballad form because so many ballads are written that way and 8/7/8/7 is often called hymn form for obvious reasons LOL On the other hand, many poems are written in iambic tetrameter, like Wordsworth's I Wandered Lonely... I love poetry for its range of choices. Thank you so much for your review :-) Brooke

I really like this poem and how you see ducks as being a metaphor for faith in living our lives. This brings back a memory when a family of ducks was crossing the road and there were twenty or more cars waiting for them to cross the road. No one got excited or anxious. It was just a very cute sight watching those duck hold up traffic. I enjoyed reading this excellent piece of poetic art... John
