Really a scary picture to steam out the one with vanity. The botox user might be deadly angry looking at the picture. But truth is truth. It's really surprising what human being could do to make themselves look beautiful and attractive. Nice iinformative poem. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot for the positive five stars review. Yes, I agree, pretty scary and I don't really like the shock value of the picture. The truth is, I can't find a more subtle substitute to drive my point. But when I find one, I will definitely click to edit mode. God bless.

Hi. Geez, the things we do because we are told that it will make life better. This is a chilling example of what vainity can do...and how easily we are ead to hurt ourselves i the name of...some one elses ideas of beauty

A short poem in fourteen syllables. Horrible photo - although I have seen some pretty disastrous results of Botox injections on TV and in newspapers. Many women do regret having it done. Botox is actually a poisonous substance. Regards Dorothy

That's one scary picture. it would discourage me from botox, if i could afford it. it is sad we can't accept aging gracefully and realize people's are more beautiful with age.

Oh wow, what an award winning picture! An ugly young woman, victim of botched up Botox treatments - and the small picture of a beauty showing through her eye! Deep inside, I think she believe she is that woman! (lol). Vanity is a dangerous thing - many are guilty of it - and none bring it better than you. Thank you for your author notes - and raising awareness to what may happen with Botox treatments (it goes to face lifts as well. I once saw what it did to my mother's friend's face. Scary)

A great poem.

Thanks a lot yeltel for resonating with the message of the poem. Yes, vanity is a vice which drive people to trade pain in exchange for artificial beauty. Thanks for the generous stars.

I saw the photo for your poem, Nassus, and I said to myself, yeah, that looks like it'll be right up my alley!

I wasn't disappointed.

So many movie stars and television personalities mutated into what can only be classified as modern-day Frankenstein monsters, caused by all the plastic surgery, botox injections and the like. Joan Rivers and Michael Jackson immediately come to mind. Joan looks as if her skin is stretched so tightly, it could leap right off of her face at anytime. And poor Michael, may he rest in peace, while so very talented, and quite a handsome young man, jsut as God made him, well, I'm not sure what he was trying to accomplish.

A well intentioned, well written poem on vanity, and the price that often comes with it.

Dear Dean, thanks for spot on summation of my poem, through your valuable insights culled from the lives of celebrities like Michael and Joan Rivers. The truth is, I don't really like the shock value of the picture, but I can't find a more subtle substitute to drive my point. But when I find one, I will definitely click to edit mode. god bless my friend.

You're very welcome, my friend. It was a pleasure to read.

I have several pictures pertaining to vanity. I've written about it myself a few times. I'll forward them to your inbox. Just right click, on them, then save them into your pictures files on your computer. I have pictures for nearly anything and everything, my friend, lol...

And very appropriate are both the artwork and the words you wrote. Why anyone would want to interfere with what God made is beyond me. Very few of these people have real problems... They should get a life. It's a great poem about a great subject, Giddy

Ooo...very compelling image to express your words of vanity. Sometimes I wonder if Hollywood careers didn't rely so heavily on looks, would people still subject themselves to the tortures of plastic surgery. There's something serene in aging gracefully. Excellent topic to ponder about. Congratulations on the recognition!

Thanks Willowsong for the insightful summation of this poem. I agree with you, I would rather grow old gracefully with all the lines and wrinkles than punish myself in the name of artificial beauty. God bless.

I guess Beverly may be the blonde with the disfigured face or Beverly Hills where the botox craze rages. I like that simple line 'vanity shots'; describes the whole narcissistic craze that would have people risk disfigurement and big bills just to show a little improvement to some part of them that they dislike. Those final two lines:Beverly's hot botox clots
dimpled dots....give a really ugly feel to the whole process. The strong assonance using the 'o' (as in ox) sound, and the monorhyme 'ots', give this 5-7-5 a bit of punch.
