Yes. Black, black as the hinges of Hell. What other could you have it printed on? Got to wonder if the Gov was listening in his/their conservations? Don't agree with your third line from the end, but it is your poem. Are we just scraping up the ones the kids shoot up, too? As a poem it follows along and expresses our strong feelings. Thanks for being there.

This is a beautiful poem. The rhyming lines help move the message in a more sweeping emotional way. The grandfather that was killed graduated from the city in which I live now, Ponca City, Ok. The city is very sad. His grandson also died. His funeral was this afternoon in Kansas. It was made all the sadder because the hateful Westboro Baptist Church was supposed to be there to protest. Thank you for this beautiful poem, Shirley

What happened is indeed a tragedy but what you are saying is downright scary as well, and just as much of a tragedy. Freedom, and liberty are lost when people give into fear, just as well as hate. If you strip one group of their liberty or lives because of what they feel or think, then who is the next to fall. Yes, I understand your anger, and I share it. But we must not allow our anger to cloud our reason. It is in that state that truly horrific acts are committed as well.

People can not be free to make good choices, unless they are equally free to make bad ones. I have read some of the reviews and they scare me. If you outlaw the KKK or lock them all up because of what they believe (misguided as it may be) who will be next, NAACP, LA Raza, NOW, LGBT who will be the ones who decide what is hate? And who do you have the right to hate?

We can not and should not honor those who have died by creating a repressive society and destroying Liberty in their names.

Oh, Our Government states that hate is a crime.

This part is not true. Hate is not a crime, that is not what hate crime enhancements mean.

Hello lancellot, I do hear you, and basically agree, but in my humble opinion, groups that meet and are known to plan killings or harm others should be stopped--not just the kkk, but terrorists, etc. As far as hate being a crime, I did take poetic license on that and, perhaps, I should have clarified it in my authors notes, i.e. crimes of hate are illegal. lancellot, the killing sprees are growing and something needs to be done. Luckily, we live in America and can write about this and have different thinking. I really thought that I would have received more reviews disagreeing vs. agree with my thoughts. I don't know what the answer is, but something has got to give--too many innocent people are being killed. Thank you for your candid review and for sharing your thoughts. I truly appreciate the time spent. LateBloomer

I shake and mourn as I read these powerful gut wrenching words. You have given the fallen an majestic tribute. These now souls of heaven were too good to remain here and that is how it has to be seen and taken to heart. Thank you for sharing your soul with us.

It is always the innocent that die in these senseless killings. No one wins. Why do people put up with this way of life that seems to be the norm in some countries. This is such a well written poem, with an important message to think on. xsx Sandra

Hello sandramitchell, Our Nation calls this way of life, "Freedom," and such groups are permitted to assemble under the First Amendment (freedom of speech) of our Nation's Constitution ... although hate has been deemed a crime. I've enclosed a link describing this Amendment. Thank you for your review and for sharing your thoughts. LateBloomer

I agree, the organisation needs to have all its members go to jail because they are all guilty. Hate is such a destructive emotion and we need more organisations to promote love, especially at Easter when Jesus died to save us from our sins. God bless you, Giddy

You have written the truth about our country, our congress and the wars which just keep coming, killing not only overseas but guns and hate in this country going hand in hand. There is no excuse, except greed, for our country being in this position.

Hello jgirlie12, Yes, the wars which keep on coming, and the mess-up-minds (not their fault) that keep returning from these wars with deep emotional scars that are embedded within them. This horrific aftermath becomes embedded into their families and society for generations to come. And let us not forget greed (and egos,) the root of many evils. jg152, Thank you for your review and for sharing your thoughts. I truly appreciate the time spent. LateBloomer

A brilliantly written poem about the endemic hatred and unreasoning violence that ensues. But it is always the same story, that we live in a free country and they are entitled to their "opinion". The trouble with that argument is that their freedom becomes our enslavement! Written with great descriptive language, aabbcc rhyme scheme that is good, nice even meter! Well done, blessings, Roy.
