Great story, I really liked that tongue-in-cheek ending. You definitely have a complete story within the word count. Again good story and good luck with the contes.

OMG what humor in such a tragic piece. I love the picture that guy really looks like he is pissed he missed. Your note about divorce or reconciliation is the best means of freedom though the story would be quicker solution. lol Good luck with your entry. looks like a winner to me Terrie

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Quick, exciting and an unexpected ending all in 100 words. Jill is one cool lady to come home relaxed after a sniper bullet just missed her. If I was Jill I would take another look at my husband and dump the boyfriend. The most deadly are the slow quiet ones.

Hah, yes, they so often are, Muffins, that's true. What do you always hear someone say when interviewed about a mass murder, serial killer, or whacko that goes on a killing spree> "Oh, they were so quiet. They seemed like a very nice person"

Thanks for such an outstanding review and rating, my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This is extremely clever, using an everyday phrase and twisting it into a deeper meaning.

You executed this flash with a razor-edged pen--or snappy keyboard--making each word work in the story, without every making this reader feel that you were struggling with the economy of words. Good stuff!

Great job with the writing prompt. You told a fantastic complete story in only 100 words. Best of luck in the contest.

After the title and the illustration, the 100 words
seem rather superfluous. Flash Fiction is often defined as having a surprise, or a twist at the end.
I suppose the surprise is that he missed with a
sniper rifle.

Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up in a nutshell, Lee. He missed her, in more ways than one.

    Thanks for the review.

There is a lot of story tucked away in those few words. It could provide the basis for expantion into a full novel. Nicely done.

Thank you, Norbanus, I really appreciate your kind review. I was an idea for a novella originally, so it's funny you should mention that!

LOL at your advisory notes, mystery writer.

Great fun play on words in ending twist. Maybe Harold will have another try. :-)

Good luck and best wishes, Ted

    Thanks, Ted!

I felt I had to put that advisory note in there. What if some crazy guy gets all whacked out, shoots his darling wife, and tells them , "Well, so & so told me to!" I simply couldn't live with that on my conscience, lol.

I love the story. I think what Harold did is the best fate a cheating spouse can have. Tsk! I've been cheated too. In fact, they are still cheating me. How I wish I have Harold's guts to end this madness.

The problem is - I'm very sane and I fear God! hah!

Hah ha, well, those are both very commendable attributes, faithful_2. At least he missed her...this time. I'm sure he'll have more chances at redemption.

    Thanks for a fantastic review!
