An excellent poem about a love and wedding proposal so cruelly dashed as to destroy him. Very well written in an aabb rhyme scheme, 4 quatrains with closing couplets in iambic pentameter. Written with compelling emotion. Well done!

This is a nice story in a poem. I liked your meter, and your use of mono-rhymed stanzas.
Some people are oh so cruel in romance. I hope she gets her just reward.
Rose.

Ah-h-h-hhhhhhhh, yes. Karma is a b!tch, is it not? All those old tried and true cliches work here; what goes around, comes around is another one that comes immediately to mind here.
A wonderfully rhymed, well metered piece that says, quite succinctly, revenge is best served cold-hearted!
Nicely done, Sandra...

Understanding that having sex is not "making love," is one lesson I learned early in my life. This poem is definitely worth five stars, but I see nothing wrong in the behavior...John

I think 'making love' is just a by-product of being in love. To love someone is to love the whole, warts and all. Making love might be enjoyable, but it is not the B-all to love. To hurt someone is never acceptable, in any circumstance, you can turn someone down without being cruel. Thank you for your kind review, John. :) Sandra

You bring out well how the cold and cruel remarks of one can cripple the other, especially if that other is in love. Many have been there. And to have that done to you in front of others hurts twice as much. Excellent rhymes, flow and cadence. Great visuals. Yes, she might have her her karma and reap what she sowed one day.
You laughed at him when he came to your side
And asked you, on one knee, to be his bride
In front of everyone you stole his pride
And in that moment something in him died

A nicely composed sonnet about a cold and unfeeling heart. This must have taken you some time to compose with so much feeling. Don

Hi Sandra...
~ I think we all have ran across a person who stomps on another's love for them, and it is so sad to see love being abused...
~ Your words ring so true, and the last line brings it all home...
Well done...
Keep Smilin'.... Jax

This poem narrates an incident where a woman rejects a man's marriage proposal 'in front of everyone' such that his pride was 'stolen' and 'something in him died.'
He was 'just a bit of fun.'
The poet warns of a day when she may have the same thing happen to her, and will look back upon her own actions ruefully.
Cheers, DW
Nice picture of a swimmer doing a crawl stroke. That's what I do four days a week. LOL
