That is very nice - in base analysis, a simple little light-hearted poem that makes the reader smile, yet it makes a grander point as well. We cherish the flashy - the pizzazzy as you beautifully describe it - but we ignore equally amazing parts of our world which are rather dull, unless we are very young children.

I actually am sadly forced to admit that not too terribly long after I was the age of the young man in the pictures, I discovered the effects of magnifying glasses on ants - sorry. :)

A wonderful and eloquent poem...out of all the animals and beautiful, odd, original things...and then there is the ant! Very nice!

Dear Brooke - ants must of been marching strong with a new friend watching them all. I remember those days - when a short stroll took hours of delightful new awareness through my childrens' eyes. A wonderful work to read - and isn't it just like life itself. We let too much pass us by too quickly. I enjoyed this reminder of the beauty all around us, no matter its size it gives when we open to receive. Skilled post as always.
Thanks for sharing it.

Dear Brooke
Your poem is so very true! There are so many wonderful sights to see, but somehow we just must watch the ant - especially if it (or they!) end up indoors! Lovely rhythm, rhyme and alliteration. I like the photos of cute little Sawyer!

Thanks for sharing :)
God bless, Christine

What a lovely and tender poem. Only a grandma is capable to do such a cute and sweet piece. The pictures are wonderful as well. Thanks Adew, for sheering such important Sawyer's moments with us.
Nicely done job!
:)

Hi, Brooke. I bet the pictures would have been sharper if they could be sized between this size and a smaller size.

Childhood is a time of wonder. Everything is enchanting and walks are an adventure. I think you have captured this in this poem. I enjoyed reading it.

Excellent quatrains, and I love your delicious use of words in this. The alliteration of platypus and plants and crocodiles and cackling crows is fun. I love the bouncy sound of pizzazzy and jazzy in the second stanza. Cute imagery of the daffodil in frilly skirts. Humongous hippopotami is such fun, I imagine youngsters would love to repeat that over and over. Everything pales in comparison to the ants, though--at least in Sawyer's eyes. Wait until he experiences them at a picnic. judi
