There is so much I like about this poem, Brooke. I like how in stanza 4 you give the poor little ant credit for being a worker. I like your mention of so many different living things in nature. And I like the way you end line four and the last line the same.
This was a delight to read. I'll never look at an ant the same now. LOL

Connie, thank you so much :-) I am such a hypocrite - I posted the poem and then stomped on an ant that had invaded my living room. LOL I appreciate your generous sixth star :-) Brooke

I love this poetic tribute to " the ant" The bible uses the ant as an important lesson for the working principle of life! I remember my own youth, being fascinated by the ant and a large spider called a trapdoor spider which built its lair underground with a trapdoor to ensnare its prey! Great natural rhyme, description, and meter! Easter Blessings, Brooke,....Roy.

Yes, and we can see he got right down with them to check out the hard working ants. A nice fun read with the platypus and plant
crocodiles and cackling crows
and the pizzazzy peacocks. Enjoyed the read Brooke,

A truly great poem filled with joy and wonderment of nature - from the very big to the very small in the size of an ant.
Yes, the ant is one of the smallest creatures to walk this earth and it is everywhere all over the world.
They are looked upon as pests in the household and we will stomp them out as soon as we see them.
What a life to have - being small and bullied the world over, smiles.
The words used in this write are very breezy and bouncy with the overall feel of a happy and joyful poem to read.
Excellent writ and well penned.
Good luck to the contest.
Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

Beautiful quatrains Brooke. I'm with your grandson, what's more interesting than ants? They're fascinating to watch. Best of luck. Kenny

Good use of the abcb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good alliteration with platypus/plant...crocodiles/crackling/crows...whale's/wonder...peacock/pizzazzy...ant/an/annoyance...watch/work...making/more...polliwogs/puffins...humongous/hippopotami...then/there/the. Good rhythm and flow. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message.

Hi Brooke I love you poem-

Sounds like your Grandson is busy viewing nature.
So are the ants.
The question is: now Sawyer should learn what are they so busy about?

Gert, thank you so much :-) I think at 23 months Sawyer isn't quite ready to understand the finer points of being an ant, but that will come soon :-) Brooke

He is brilliant - at 23 months he sings the full lyrics to a whole bundle of songs, including baa baa black sheep. He has great conversations with me on the phone. His vocabulary is astounding. He's just not quite ready for science yet. LOL :-)

So cute, Brooke. "peacock is pizzazzy" and the jellyfish are jazzy." Great fun.
He's bound to be a little different since he is your grandchild. LOL! Cute!
