I thought this piece was really cool, Dean. It's been a while since I've been able to read your stuff, but this was definitely a great one to come back to. I think the fans do make the author really, because in the end what we do is subjective, because it's art. Excellent work here, thanks for sharing.

Great, great poem. Loved the story and also the rhyming. The rhythm was consistent and really flowed well. Loved the pictures and the videos. Just had eye surgery, so the black background and glare of the font was a little difficult. Not your fault, though.

Whoa, yes, the main thing is to keep your eyesight, my poem be damned! So sorry about that! I hope you will be 100% before too long.

Thanks for gutting it out and reading & reviewing it. I really appreciate that, amahra!

A very philosophical and thoughtful poem indeed.
I like the suspense build up and then the drop down at the end.
The separation of stanzas by images is quite effective and the poem itself tells a story many writers can relate to.

Thanks you, seken58, that was my intention, that many who struggle as writers could relate to it. I appreciate your thoughts and generous rating immensely!

Your poem is really as it is in reality. Not many would-be authors will make it, and sad to say, many of those writers are better than the published ones. It all depends of where you are, who you know, and who will take that chance on you. Not many these days. Excellent poem and a pleasure to read. xsx sandra

A fine story with a cliff hanger ending. What was it that he meant? lol No more for you. I just love the pictures that you can put into your poems. I wish I knew how to incorporate those little video pictures into some of mine and where do you find them?
jUST loved this character is his trying and trying and never giving up till there was too much for him to deal with.

This is one to re-read over and over. Every time I read it, I glean something missed before. Honestly, Dean, you are so very talented. Part of every significant writing is the original idea. You nail that time after time. I'm glad to have the opportunity to read your writing.

You manage to tell the story of a struggling author's long road to popular acclaim in this poem. You have done so in impressive detail and with a precise and reader-friendly style. Who is the author you are referring to?

Thanks, JohnnyRhymes, and it wasn't directed at any author in particular. I wrote it after reading an article about some fans of John Clancy's who, more or less, said how mean and cruel it was of him to die, and leave some of his works unfinished, as they would never know the ending. I simply felt that was the epitome of self-absorption. I mean, c'mon, the poor guy IS dead, for Chris'sakes!

So, it's basically a "what if" story, about a writer who's intended all along to leave his fans hanging, which ironically makes him famous because the critics and his fans keep talking about him. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

Thanks so much again for your outstanding review and generous rating.

this is very well written, dean, you did an excellent job writing this poetic tale about the way the fans don't want the writer to stop writing. i feel that way about my favorite author. i re=read all of her books while waiting for the next one to come in

Oh yes, the fans can make or break an author absolutely, I love your poem. The words are wonderful and a lot of fun to read, but the animated pictures are particularly enhancing, Giddy

One hit wonders tend to always go out with a bang...leave them wanting seems to be their creed. An interesting subject to choose for your piece. Relayed the tale of his 15 minutes of fame well. The gifs were a nice touch. Absolutely love the top photo.
