Another amazing piece by the one and only Dean Kuch! This was a great read and I'm not at all surprised by the Poem of the Month win! Indeed you are correct, there are so many reasons and incentives to chase our dreams, our goals, never should you base these on money alone. Greed is a dangerous, dangerous enemy!! xoLeslie

Hi Dear - No wonder this was a past Poem of the Month winner. It is stunning. A touch of the Moby Dick, I thought. Your internal rhyme carried on throughout is exceptional and the story wonderful. The only light relief was 'The adventurer, known conqueror, of fearsome beasts reviled, hurled a harpoon whistling a tune, which caused his men to smile.' They did not smile for long LOL. So glad you posted this again - a treat to read such an amazingly well written and enjoyable poem. Congratulations! Dorothy x

Part of the way through I had the feeling that this along with the action graphics was good even great and the way it rhymed reminded me of someone YOU. What a great piece and another really great poem, most enjoyable.

Nice work on this poem. I can see why it won. Good solid rhyming quatrains. I love mythical beasts and the kraken has a ton folklore surrounding it in many different cultures. Good work, my friend.

Take care,
Russell

Amazing poem! I loved how instead of using words you read every day you used words I'd never even heard before. (but I still got the idea) The flow and rhymes in the poem were beautiful. I especially love the message you give. I've never thought about that when I write something. I totally agree that it shouldn't be all about the money. You've got a great future ahead of you. Good luck to you. -the angry bookworm

Thank you, it was an extreme honor to win last month, but two months in a row astounds me. I've never considered myself much of a poet, simply a story teller who writes stories in rhyme.

    Thanks so much again!

A visual six for this one...You always seem to have that added touch in your poems of graphics that move, or come to life which add greatly to your poems that sometimes, I'm sorry, just can't read (too scary)...Though, this one interest me & too my husband, who lived a considerable amount of time on US Navy ships that were always deployed.

Appreciate the added author notes.

Thanks, Caressa_08, but his poem isn't even meant to be scary, so I'm unsure how you arrived there. It's simply a telling of a group of sea going men out to chase and capture an elusive beast, so that they may become rich. Nothing scary going on in this one, I assure you.

    Thanks...

No, this one isn't scary, as for me it's interesting folklore, these tales of the sea..Just meant some of your other poems.
