Great rhythm to this one, almost like a long sea shanty. I don't think Ahab ever learned the lesson of obsessively chasing an elusive beast either. Just ask Ishmael. The journey can be a real pain in the albatross. Especially if we wreck along the way.

Wow Dean, I was drawn into this wonderfully written rhyme from the first sentence, and I usually stay away from poems within a story. I actually didn't want it to end, it was that powerful. I'm afraid of the sea, especially when on a boat or ship, so needless to say I was on the edge of my seat while reading. I'm glad I read 'author notes' to understand what you really meant to say about success and greed. How very clever, and you deserve a six for this one. I enjoyed it very much along with your great pictures. . .Sharon

That was a lovely tale of a jolly tar who ended up like Robinson Crusoe. I loved the naughty sea monsters, very effective. Your rhymes and rhythm were superb and great choice of language for your salty tale. Most enjoyable. Faye

Yep, it happens that way sometimes, country, and it's pretty sad that it does. Everyone feels they have something significant, or entertaining to say in their writing, otherwise, they wouldn't bother saying it at all.

Hey, I think you're the best! You treated me kindly from the first day I came to FanStory, and continue to support what it is I try to do here. A lot of people have turned their back on me, for whatever reason, but not you. You always manage to give me encouragement and support, and that has meant a lot to me.

You have always been there for me dusting me off and sending me on my way to learn and learn things I really need to know. "TRUE FRIENDS, DO NOT TURN THEIR BACK ON FRIENDS NO MATER HOW HIGH ONE CLIMBS" Some people just seemed to move on and leave us for a different lifestyle of writing. Mostly poems which I must confess I am not too good at. You make me feel my writing is worth while.
