This is so sweet. We all need someone we can depend on, a true friend who is there no matter what. You say it so eloquently. Another new form for me to look up and study. I love the flow and rhymes.

Debi, thank you so very much for your gracious and generous response to this poem :-) The form was invented by Sally Yocum several years ago :-) Brooke

I love comforting sincere feel of this poem.
To know that no matter what you will always have a
friend is a priceless gift indeed.
Almost as reassuring as a warm hug.
A well written and presented poem with a lovely message.

Unconditional love is a rarity at times. You've again reached out to others to build hope and offer love. Very beautiful poem. Poor Sawyer looks tired but still sweet and loveable. :)

Don't all children have a blanket or soft cuddly toy that makes everything alright in their worlds? The Octogram written so beautifully, modified slightly or not, is always a treat for me. The shortened lines remind me a little of The Rondeau and I love those too. Could Sawyer be any cuter? Obviousy, no, is the answer. Simple rhymes but I think that these are totally appropriate for the Octo form. xx Carol

Thanks so much, Carol - you're so right - no possible way to make him cuter :-) Brooke

I enjoyed the sweet tones of friendship in this piece. My favorite lines were about the kite:
If trees reach out to snatch your kite
before it has a chance at flight,

I love the Octogram form, and I love your theme here about friendship. I expected to see Sawyer's little friend whom Miranda watches (sorry, can't recall her name) In the picture with Sawyer. I loved every single line here, Brooke.

Connie, thank you so much :-) The reason Sawyer was so tired in that picture is because he and his mom were heading home after a long day of playing with Nora :-) Brooke

Oh yes a very cute and sweet poem my friend. Good word flow and rhyming, makes it a heart touching story. There is nothing like a true friend, on whom you can attend.

This friend sounds like someone we all need, Brooke. My favourite form is the octogram... I just love them, and you write them so beautifully. We are so lucky that Sally introduced them to us. And you are right, this is a precious photo. Giddy

To adewpearl,
It is always a test of the weary ones to try to keep a loving demeanor about them when they feel their whole world has crumpled when things don't go the way the young tots hoped for.
