Awww and doesn't he look like he needs a friend right now in that adorable pic? Such a cute little Octo of support Brookers and I'm sure this boy is the most LOVED on the planet. I see "Ruggy" has made an appearance LMAO Too gosh darn cute for words. Those breezes and clouds better look out when Grandma is around! LOL Beautifully penned as always and just the right mix of wise and wonderful incorporated to make this just a bit spesh.
Hugs Phillippa

Thanks so much, Phillippa. Actually, he was just tuckered out after a long afternoon of playing at Nora's house :-) Brooke

Brooke, This is just a sweet and loveable picture of Sawyer. The poem is touching also. I guess I'm a friend to my grandchildren too, because there is nothing that I wouldn't do for them. (within reason) I remember one time, my granddaughter said, "I want to go to live with grandma, because she cuts up my meat." Ha. Nice poem. Carole

I'm not sure what an Octogram is. I see the 8 line stanzas, but it doesn't matter because I love the poem no matter what style. It just flows effortlessly and soothes my soul as I read it. Great alliterations and last lines of each stanza. 8-)

A lovely poem about friendship - in this case very loving friendship. Flows beautifully. Good rhyming couplets in your 'modified' Octogram which sounds fine to me. Sawyer looks invery pensive mood - or is he simply watching television LOL. Regards Dorothy

I loved this, and I know Sawyer will love it when he's older, too. The rhyming is perfect, as always, and this is such a perfect poem for a child. James Taylor would be proud.

I always love to read your poetry, adewpearl. The experience is like being strapped to your poem and being carried along by the tempo, knowing you're safe -- not to be dropped and abandoned before the trip is done. I have a friend. Thank you.

Excellent musicality in this with a lovely and uplifting theme

Fine alliteration on B:

When breezes steal your bright balloon,
I'll be your friend,

And C:

and should a cloud conceal the moon,

and L:

I've light to lend.

Nice lines and sentiments:

If flowers wilt instead of bloom,
I'll help them mend,
and should your songs slip out of tune,
I'll make them end.

Optional comma suggestion (for dramatic pause):

On this(,) you always can depend --

Good repeating catchphrase--you have a friend. Reminds me of the Jame's Taylor song...

Love,
rd

It is always good to know that you have a friend who will do anything for you and , a friend who will stand by you no matter what . It is a very hard to find a such a person.
