I've been there, done that... special thanks to my grandfather who years ago gave me a similar explanation about barn owls so I learned to appreciate them. Although I never associated them with things unknown or unfamiliar as you have done so well here.. excellent work, very descriptive wording to draw the read along.
This line is likely a typo "He hung ihis head as if in shame"

Thanks for sharing that with me, Dale, because this was based on an actual experience I had when I was about twelve years old. I heard that incessant screaming off in the distance, and although it was almost dark, I just had to know what it was. I've pretty much been that way my entire life.
Thanks for pointing out that erroe for me as well. Much obliged!

I loved he suspense in this work, the descriptive imagery and the interaction with the barn owl. The background of white writing on black background is quite effective, as are the owl pictures. I also greatly enjoyed the background information on owls.

Thanks so much, evilynne. This is based on an actual experience I had of a lad around 12. I heard that incessant screaming, and I just had to know what it was. Luckily, curiosity didn't kill the cat ..this time.
Thanks again!
