Brooke,
A cute, cute read with a very cute pic to match. It always amaaazes me how kids can spend hours playing just as well with boxes and pots and pans as they can with expensive toys. Sometimes the simpler ones are best. They use their imagination. As you have so nicely put it "for minds were never made to have their thoughts confined".
Lovely rhyme and flow. A delightful poem!

I enjoyed this poem that felt like an ode to the individual in us all. The sense of adventure is heavy in this piece and a perfect match for the image you chose to accompany your work.
Always a treat to read your stuff. Thank you for sharing.

The art work is very special for these words
they are so true.
Our imagination can grow in many ways.
Sawyer seems to be having a great time.

I was born to be a movie star
I know this is true
If I can make this old box
a working piece of art
Imagine what I could do
from a screen viewing you
Well done as always, Buck

When we get a large cardboard box, I love to have it ready for the grandchildren. It lasts a day and then we can recycle it. It is tremendous fun for them and I believe children's play in small spaces develops a certain part of their intelligence. Not too many of them get such a lovely poem written in honour of the occasion though! This one is delightful, Brooke. Giddy

And what is Sawyer up to now? Loved the playfulness of the poem. Your rhymes are always strong. I loved the lines below: The mind, in deed, is like an endless pit.
A box cannot contain
what lives within a mind, [love these lines]

This is a cute poem about a day making forts from some large toy boxes. But the poem uses the concept of being boxed in to go beyond a simple description of the event, showing how Sawyer is learning a life lesson through his realization that there is always an escape from a box, as from a situation encountered far into the future.
Cheers,
DW

Great poem! I love these lines:
Imagination knows
no boundaries or walls.
It follows no commands
except when freedom calls.
Great picture, too. Inspirational poem about freedom. Great to read! :)

Methinks this is one of your best. If only those in the box (or envelope would only peek out to see what they are missing, it would be a better world...John

I loved the way no boundaries exist in the minds of children. I think adults could do well to take that in. That's why kids are SO much better at computer technology than us. They embrace the new, are prepared to think OUTSIDE the box and can call on an expert imagination at any tick of the clock. Delightful as always and this had similarities to the bouncy trimeter of the Ampeletum format I revisited recently. Wonderful stuff Brooke and I'm glad the little bloke enjoys the empty box playtime with all those limitless possibilities for fun...I mean WHAT kid doesn't or wouldn't? LOL
Cheers Phillippa
