The things they're doing with flat-screen pixels these days! I swear his fingers are 3-D! It must be a digital TV fort.
The third stanza says it all. We used to stretch the envelope. Then we thought outside the box. And all the while we were just being creative.
Good stuff, Brooke.
Peace, Lee

In just a few words, you have given a wonderful life lesson for us. I particularly like,"If waves can stretch for miles upon an endless sea , no boundaries exist to stop the likes of me." Blessings

Hi Brooke,
Ah, the joys of the empty box and an active imagination. It is astonishing how a 'throw away' box can become, a fort, a theatre, a submarine or even an aircraft. Lovely poem, imagination set free, knows no limits.

Hello Brooke,
Thought provoking nice piece of poetry.
Simple and impressive wording.
Smooth flow.
Lovely rhyming scheme with lively imagery.
The most striking lines are:
"A box cannot contain
what lives within a mind,
for minds were never made
to have their thoughts confined."
Excellent!

Imagination knows
no boundaries or walls.
It follows no commands
except when freedom calls.
How lovely is this - most impressive, Brooke.
I have pictures of my niece looking out of a box
and one of Richard - of all the toys they have,
they love to play with such.

Margaret, thanks so much :-) At Sawyer's age, he has no idea about how fancy or expensive something is. He is more entertained by a trip through a store to see the elevator buttons and fans than he is by being given a new, expensive toy. His parents store all the big boxes they get in the garage to take out for days like this :-) Brooke

I love the message you captured and portrayed in "They Try To Box Me In". Your rhyming quantrains work well. The rhymes are easy to read when read aloud, The meter is steady. Your repeated insistence that a person's imagination and thoughts do not belong in a box resonates with me! Peace to you. Peg

Thanks for reminding me of my cardboard fort-building times, Brooke.
There could be an intended comparison in imagination and actually doing something, here. Either way, it's your usual uplifting fayre.
Best wishes, Ted

Thanks so much, Ted - glad to hear people build box forts across the pond too :-) Brooke

I had to stop it when I reached 50, Brooke, as I was too big and fat to find any boxes I could fit into. :-) xx

Glorious, Brooke! It's fun and conceived on an intimate scale, but it enshrines a universal truth. A ringing battle cry for freedom - marvelous!
