Nice rhyming quatrains with a final couplet at the conclusion, in good, ten syllable lines each. There's some pretty inventive rhymes here as well. Deny/lie, whole/soul, word and heard. That takes care of some of the technical aspects ...

As for the story, it tells of a dastardly and cowardly act by one jealous girl, to create a rift in the relationship between himself and his true love, by someone he apparently thought was his friend. As it turns out, his love winds up leaving because of the insidious lies she tells, and this poor jilted man hears about it too late. Hey, it happens all the time!

Great composition, and a sad but excellent story, Sandra.

Your words are so true. Jealousy can destroy a persons life in more ways than one. Some can fall so deeply in love and when their love is tossed aside for someone else, it can be devastating. I agree about the picture, it sort of has that lonely forgotten feel to it. Take care. Bill

This is a sad poem of what we lose when we play mean. I guess this is a poem to really make us think about our actions as well.

Thank you, Bobby Jo, for your lovely review. I think we should stop now and again and take a good look at ourselves. I have never been a jealous person, yet I have seen it happen to a friend of mine. Not nice. xsx Sandra :)

The art work just so right for these words written here.

Love can be so true towards someone the next minute not.

I am sure many of us have fallen in love quite a lot.

It can hurt when love fades from a relationship.

We all eventually marry the right one I feel.

My dear Sandra,

This is a beautiful Shakespearean sonnet with great iambic pentameter.

Quite a touching story in the lines.

Have a lovely weekend, my dear friend.

Hugs and kisses,

xxx

Sonali :)

I've just written a sonnet with iambic pentameter???? I didn't know that! LOL, I have no idea what is what in poetry, just write the way it comes out. Thank you my very dear Sonali, I will be walking around with a big smile on my face! I have written a Shakespearean sonnet! Honestly, this is the first! Thank you so very much! xsx Sandra

It's close - there is an extra stanza, but yes... and to think it was uncontrived is so impressive! xxx :) :)

I got stuck on the line ' You told his love? that he loved only you. Could you change his love to his sweetheart or something? Interesting play on love and revenge - just a little something your muse sent through? LOL

Hi Kay, thank you my dear friend for this lovely review. I have no idea where it came from. It started off as a love poem, but struggled with getting the right word to rhyme with 'face' disgrace kept popping into my head, lol, that's how you become famous!! I will take another look at that line you mentioned. If I change it, it must only have one syllable or it throws the whole stanza out. I loved your story, I have reviewed it, it must have been such a wonderful experience. I hate it when idiots write off someone who is 'different' in any way, they are normally the most intelligent. Thanks again for your lovely review! xsx Sandra

How sad for all concerned. Jealousy is without a doubt the most self-destructive emotion one can have. It's a hunger that can never be satisfied and destroys everything that comes into contact with it.

Thank you for sharing,
Gayle

Excellent poem about a feeling that if aloud can be very destructive.
Love the style , imagery and emotions. Since you live in Spain , ( I was born there) perhaps you understand this. " celos son unos desvelos
propios de gente menguada, si son algo no son celos, si son celos no son nada". Enjoy reading it ,interesting. Pili

Hi Pila, I came home from Spain last June, and I was horrified to find I am struggling with this, I don't know what 'menguada' means, so I expect it will throw the rest out. What I can make out roughly is,
People who reveal something owned by the people...(I can't make it out properly, it could be, keeps some people awake..) you are someone if you are not jealous, if you are jealous, you are nothing....

I am sure that is way out. I always found if one word doesn't fit right, the rest is wrong. What you have taught me, is, I must get in touch with my Spanish friends and start chatting again! Thank you for your lovely review, Pili, and for the kick up the bottom! :) xsx Sandra

Menguada is people that diminish them self, so, jealousy is proper of very insecure people, if they are betrayed, is not really jealousy , if is just jealousy then is nothing but insecurity. No, no soy celosa,,, LOL. Great poem, and you welcome.. Pili

Hi Sandra

So different to the writing I've know from you. You have performed this sombre work brilliantly. Sometimes without experiencing we can empathise with others who have. Even without that we can know the evil of jealousy in many ways. I've never been a jealous person but I have had to deal with it ... worst, in a sister and a best friend. It caused me a great deal of loss, sorrow and hardship. I often ask myself if I invited it somehow. In the end the best friend never even had a chance but it didn't stop her breaking up my marriage. She still lives in her loveless marriage, so I suppose that is my revenge. Though revenge is as bad as the jealousy ..... serves only the purpose of evil.

You reveal a poignant tale of a relationship destroyed. I have seen this destruction with friends and experienced my own. Jealousy is one thing, when it is behind your back from those you have trusted, it steals one's soul. I find it very difficult to trust in friendships now, I keep most people at arms length despite once being the ultimate 'people person'. I can't understand this emotion, or where it comes from. I'm sure it is a major cause of bullyism. Well done ... you've obviously evoked very powerful emotions in me. :) Great rhyme and rhythm. Well done. Brilliant image. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

I am so sorry I have brought back those horrible memories, Lovi, Jealousy is something I personally haven't had to deal with, but I have seen it tear people apart and normally, the jealousy was not about anything that you would expect. Some people seem to be born with this trait. So sad to live with a jealous person, or have a jealous friend. Thank you so much for your lovely review, and for telling me your sad story. :) xsx Sandra
