I agree with the message of Run Towards. As children we don't think we shouldn't run toward an open embrace or run to give an open embrace. We feel happy and we show it, end of story. It's only when we are adults do we become concern about appearance's and what people will think if I "run towards joy." I loved this picture. Thank goodness my niece and nephew are still at the age where all they want is an embrace and nothing will stop them from getting it.

A poignant , touching poem. I find it particularly pertinent as an old friend has just lost her brother, whom she had cared for for so many years and has now indicated she does not want anyone to visit. It is hard to respect her wishes. I am thinking of maybe sending her your poem but will pray about it first.

I am enamoured with the title for this poem :) lovely picture of Nora. She looks grown up in this picture. Keaton is five so i can imagine they might be the same size. That helps me imagine what it would be like to see her in person. I like your theme a lot. You always find inspiring things to say.

Dear Brooke,

Don't turn away when love is offered you for it is the greatest gift of all. It will make you sing and dance and with it you shall conquer all.

Good rhyming and flow per usual.

Warm regards,

Winslow

So very true. How many times do we run from joy and love as if the devil himself were chasing us? I need to bookcase this one as sometimes I need a reminder! Thank you so much for sharing this one. I really needed it. As always, the flow and rhymes are perfection. Congrats on the well deserved blue ribbon and seal.

All the best,
Cephira

Exceptional execution of form and sagacious content.

This is particularly wise and mostly unheeded. Joy, peace, gratitude, clarity, simplicity, your poem speaks to all of these deceptively accessible states of heart and mind.

Why act as if a tender touch
has snatched us in its grasping clutch? << While this speaks to your elevated theme of embracing joy, or not, it also hints at something more mundane, if not tragic: As we age youth fuguratively and literally runs away from us. Thus, another view on the above picture. Always that nod to the ironic, the fateful, Brooke. Thank God for that.

interesting jump from ABAB to AABB Brooke.
I really like your flowing rhyme and I really don't give a shit if you did change from one format to another and I don't wanna know why you did ok lol
I just like the poem for what its worth so don't even think of changing it because analness is not that important at the end of the day.
You see I have now been accused of being trite rude and "a legend in my own mind bt a few of the poets here and it couldn't be further from the truth. If they can read that in my personality from a few simple basic rhyming words well they are a better man/woman then I could ever be. really discovered a few hometruths about this wonderful site tonight and have finally wilted to playing the suck up game it seems the only way to get noticed sadly

You don't want to know that the change in rhyme is because of the rispetto form? LOL Thanks so much, Dip :-) Brooke

This is a great and brisk poem that put a smile on my face. It reminded me of times that I scorned my child and regretted it since they just wanted to express some of their love but I was inundated with my own crap that i didn't realize until too late. Nice job here, keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing

There are those who seem to enjoy misery, for some strange reason! The sentiment in your poem is wholesome and good, Brooke.

I feel the same as you.

Love the photo of Nora - such joy on her face!

I guess this is what we all want. Only love to bring us joy. I feel that is why there are so many divorces. People only want joy. But true love has to feel pain too. Good poem, cute picture.
