It is good you added a bodyguard. No private eye can go about without one. Better still in elemental world, you might need Gandalf also.
Your idea of a mystery book mixing magic and reality is the most original one so far that I've heard of.Counting that bing-bang device in Switzerland and the Apple i-tech.
PS your pen name has anything to do with the town Snodland in Eastern UK?

Thanks. My daughter, who knows about these things, tells me the genre is called urban fiction. And yes, I used to live in Smodland, playground of the jet set

I didn't realize Ess was a witch. Was this mentioned before and I didn't catch it?
Okay, I guess I'm dense; what is the joke about "the bottom of the garden?"
I love the back and forth between Ess and Shades. Great bantering.
Yes, really, how dangerous can a fairy be?? Maybe as dangerous as a leprechaun.
I really like this story.

Thanks. This is the 4th book in a series, and it was pretty well established in the other books, though I can see coming at it afresh it could be a surprise. That's what Martin in an earlier chapter was referring to when he talked about her being au fait with that side of life. Fairies at the bottom of the garden is a pretty familiar phrase in the UK, so where else would you start looking? Maybe it's one of those divided by a common language thing.
Glad it didn't spoil your enjoyment of the story. I think Shades might tag along in this story. I like the idea of the romantic male lead being little more than eye candy to the string heroine

No worries; I love this story. I give a "thumbs up" with Shade in the picture. A romantic male is always a good thing. :)

LOL! Oh, I just love Ess and Shades together. "It's just, it makes me feel cheap, you know? Like you're just using me for my body." So cute! That image is the reason I love to read you, snod. Your characters are just so unique and they have your crazy sense of humour.
The damn thing is, though, you're so long between posts. I get a bit miffed when you make me wait so long for the next chapter. So, get cracking! Next!

Thanks for the review and generous score. I've had a bad back, which has meant standing as much as possible. I can sit now though, so I'll see what I can do.

Ah, poor sweetie! That's what happens when you're so tall. It takes a strong frame. Do some stretching exercises - gently. I find it helps. Here I am, playing mother, now. LOL!
