This is an older poem of your, but a gem nonetheless. Very nicely composed and expressed. First stanza especially. Great job with this spiritual Rondeau. Marilyn

    Hi Marilyn,
How sweet of you to go back to this older poem. Three years ago I posted it. I haven't read it myself in a long time. Thank you for the review and reminding me of this project I have set the side for a while.

Well done. I find myself resisting challenges to write poems in a specific form, but I admire those who embrace the challenge. This is a lovely poem that will be deeply appreciated by all who believe. You've met the challenge successfully, while managing not to cloud the message, and also managing to create beautiful music with the words - which for me is the measure of good poetry. Very well done.

Thank you so much for going back into my portfolio to find this one. I haven't looked at it in a while. I did make a goal the last two years to explore new forms. When I joined FS two years ago all I knew was there were sonnets, free verse and quatrains. Who knew there are more forms than I'll every have time to find. Even sonnets themselves come in numerous forms. I have found this a great place of discovery and growth. I am so pleased you enjoyed this poem and its message. Thank you for the generous comments about the writing.

I love this rondeau, debi. Yours is light as air and inspiring. I love your words of encouragement to find comfort in The Lord. Great rhymes and a terrific repeating phrase. My only nit is the second last line that begins with "gently". The meter didn't work for me in that line. Otherwise, wonderful meter. This poem makes me feel happy and comforted.

    Hi Joy,
Thank you so much for the great review. Yeah, I know, I took advantage of th fact iambic meter is not required in the rondeau. I wanted a pause in that spot, which does upset the meter a bit. Thank you for noticing and commenting. You are the only one that has. Maybe I'll work on I a bit more. I am so happy it made you feel happy and comforted.

This is beautiful, creative, & expresses my feelings exactly. I'm not into large displays of thunder, when it comes to faith. I see it as a quiet personal relationship that's tended thru-out each day -- a 2-way street where we need to be quiet & listen at least as much as we pray & request. Your poem speaks of this exact process, for me. Thanks for sharing.

"The Lord Is" reads well. The rhyme and rhythm combine to give the poem a satisfying feel. The line "You contemplate your soul's desire" invites the reader to slow down, be still and focus on the voice of your soul. Let it talk to you.

Thank you for sharing your first Rondeau.

I loved your first attempt at the rondeau form. Certainly a good subject to begin with. The composition is very good in my opinion although I certainly am no expert. I hope you get positive reviews. Don

Thank you for sharing this poem with it's inspiring message. It flows very well. It also fits the rondeau format, which is a difficult one to pull off successfully. Good job!
Best Wishes,
Valerie

wj, this Rondeau is well done and hard to believe that it is your first! The rhyme is engaging. It depicts well two of the many facets of God in His might and His tenderness. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

This is a beautiful Rondeau with a lovely
theme.
We only need to open our hearts to the Lord
for Him to enter in.
Your form is good as your meter and rhyme
are strong. The repeating line works to accentuate
the theme.
